A nice chap that I know, once offered me a straight swapsie for his L reg

Zx9R ...

His had done about 35,000 miles, is okay, but a little dog-eared in places ...

Mine's Zeph 750 has done 25,000, and I've sorted the springs, and done a service - it's a known quantity of you like ...

Mine will need tyres, chain & sprocks, and rear shocks in the near future ....

So, what would you do?

Swapsie ??

Or not swapsie ??

PS: He wanted to swap cos my Zeph would be more comfortable for him...

I said go with the 9R.

But then again, Im always trying to get as much power as i can afford.

I can see why your having the dilema though. Zephyrs are bloody nice bikes aswell.

I guess it depends what type of riding you prefer, no point in trading an already decent bike for a faster, less comfortable one if you dont drive that fast.

Mmmm .... I'm Captain Sensible most of the time ...

But I REALLY want a fully faired bike!

And how uncomfy are 9Rs :?:

They're the same chassis as a 6R aren't they? So, should be reasonably comfy?? Or do you think not ???

:?: :?: :D :D :?: :?:

In that case, go for it, however running costs will be higher I would have thought.

Well, I can do the services myself ...

Only thing I'm not keen on, is that he's put track tyres on ..

So I'll need to allow for a couple of hundred quid for 2 hoops ....

But mine needs new tyres anyway ............

I'll have a ride over in the near future and see if he's still up for it ...

:D

The insurance is higher, but not by much ...

For a sports bike the 9R is comfy. Quite big, lots of space to move and not so tough on the wrists.

But nowhere near a Zephyr.

Then again my mate upped from a Zephyr, to a GSXR1100 (which i bought) And then owned a ZX9R. Fast as fuk, and he said its better than the gixxer, but not as comfy as teh Zephyr.

He then sold the ZX9R and bought a 2005 Z1000. Which he says is like a mixture of the two, comfy as fuk but mental performance. He's a sammy sensible aswell, i think it was the comfort/seating position that put him off.

If you want a fast faired bike its about as comfy as you'll get me thinks.

Was this the bloke at the hardware store Edster?

If he has still got it there cant be a lot wrong with it as it was ages ago when you first mentioned that bike (Unless its been sitting in a garage since then)

9R brilliant bike, some of my mates have them.

In my opinion they are streets ahead of 600R so not worth the comparison.

Comfy, fast and handle well.

Swap the zeph!!!

Yep swapsie for me too mate,

I love my gixer and wouldnt swap it for a non sports bike, I have used mine for long mway runs and heading accross london as well.

Get the 9R and stick some new hoops on it, I have BT021 on my gixer, sports touring tyres, but i do lots of milage and they warm up quick are good in the wet and more than adequate for most riders in the dry to.

Well ....................................................

I went to see him this arvo - yes tis the same lad ..........

And on Monday, he did a swapsie with a lad for a Harris Magnum with a CB900 engine in it .................................

Said would have swapped too - Just too late

But he's going to ask the lad he did a swapsie with if he'd like to do a swapsie

So it may or may not come off ....

He did warn me about the performance though - he says I might find it too mental after my comparatively sane Zeph :?

I'm not holding my breath though .............................................

Ah well ... such is life ... could be worse ... i could be ginger
