_MILLA Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 It's fair to say I'm a newbie to motorbikes, just turned 27 and I've done my cbt and put a deposit down on a bike I'm going to collect next weekend! It's a Suzuki van van that's already been chopped and dropped to look like a bobber!! (As seen below)I'm definatelty going to white wall the tyres but I can't seem to find any white walls to fit it, does anyone have the answer... Do I need to change the wheels ? Or the tyres ?"Also, if anyone else has any suggestions on what would look nice, go ahead and give me some ideas!! Cheers guysPS: I've added a photo of my paint skills Quote
Paul-Kent Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 How's the insurance on a bike that's been altered so much? Quote
_MILLA Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 I just did a quote on the bike as standard..I haven't insured it yet. Was only 250..nothing is declared to the insurance, it's only going to be a a weekend bit of fun.. It's not going to go far! Quote
Six30 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Could you actually do anything to make it look nice ?Custom paint job on the tank .. Some chrome ??A trip to spec savers ? Quote
CGD217 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I strongly suggest declaring everything to the insurance company as you will effectively be riding around with no insurance. The penalty for which I think is 6 points and a fine. Quote
_MILLA Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 If you don't like it, do one... Didn't ask for negative opinions did I ? Quote
Joeman Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If you don't like it, do one... Didn't ask for negative opinions did I ?Police will crush it when you're pulled for that exhaust and you're found to not have insurance... White walls are the least of your worries! Haha Quote
Classickid21 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 hey nice to meet you, i looked at bobbing a VAN VAN few year ago but it was too much of a nice bike to do it. have you consider'd something like Candy Red black wheels maybe cnc type wheels or spoke wraps. those bars are they Drag bars on a on a bob?you need to get your self a silencer !! that thing must be so loud and little bit slow. need a battery cover or have aggro on rainy days Quote
Mr Fro Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Step 1 - Give it a good tidy up! See if you can re-route those cables if you can and do something about that massive long speech cable (or whatever it is)2 - It would look a whole lot better if you could get those bits around the engine and under the seat in to a box such as a dummy oil tank or battery box.Don't know about the tyre availability but if you can't get some then there is tyre paint on the market.Paint wise, I reckon it'd look pretty smart with a bit of matt black mixed in there. Nothing huge, just a bit of stencilling here and there. Quote
Classickid21 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-rv125- ... Swys5WV2HU?? 73 watchers...Same year in much better condition un molested (CHEAPER) ?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-RV-125 ... SwnLdWq4l3 Quote
Six30 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If you don't like it, do one... Didn't ask for negative opinions did I ? I do apologise for not being as keen on your bike as you are... Each to their own blah blah blahAs for doing one I was going to return the compliment , but to be honest you probably wouldn't get that far. Quote
Wynne G Oldman Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 You need to declare all modifications to your insurer, otherwise, you won't be insured. Most companies won't touch a bike that's been modified so extensively, especially as you're a new rider, so it'll be a specialist insurer for you. Good luck. Quote

Just no mods declared...Maybe I should look into having the mods on the polity! Quote

Also yes, the exhaust, I wasn't a fan of that and was looking to change it, I just don't know how to go about it!! Any ideas ? Quote

Just done a quote on the same (model) bike, but not the exact one, with all the mods stated.... 10,000.. That's ridiculous... And that's just doing 500 miles a year...Help Quote
fq-craigus Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I think Bennetts do 16 mods as standard on their policy. I got it when I renewed the other day Quote
Wynne G Oldman Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I Googled "modified motorcycle insurance" and this is one of the first links to come up. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/motor ... /modified/ It may be worth checking a few more out. Quote

Just no mods declared...Maybe I should look into having the mods on the polity! No mods declared on a modded bike will equate to no insurance. Frankly it looks like someone failed to even achieve a half-assed job on it... Looks a bit unloved Find something in better condition, learn and gain experience on it, then down the line get something to mod if you want. I suspect that thing will cause all sorts of nightmares. Quote
Bogof Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 It will be insured. Just no mods declared...Maybe I should look into having the mods on the polity! Failing to disclose a material fact to your insurer will invalidate the policy.Maybe you should mention the mods. Quote
Six30 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 should of asked on here before you put deposit down ... If you do go through with buying it make sure you get a full face lid with a extra dark visor in case you see any one you know while your riding it. Quote
MrBrightside Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 If you buy a bike like that, get used to being pulled on a regular basis. It's gonna happen. So make sure you insure it properly. Not just for you, but what happens if you hit someone else's pride and joy or injure someone. I take it you've never been hit by an uninsured driver? If you had, this wouldn't be coming up...As for your original question...need a massive tidy up. Route all the cables away and wrap or paint it. Yes white walls will make it look a bit better, but if you hadn't done so, invest in some decent quality kit. If anything falls off that thing just make sure you slide/fly well. Quote

Just no mods declared...Maybe I should look into having the mods on the polity! In that case it will not be insured. No insurance company will touch it unless mods are declared. So you are looking at a hefty bill to any 3rd party injured / killed by you.Driving without insurance. The offences go on and on.Grow up. You are 27 not 10 years old. Quote
cockercas Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Why waste time typing. You have just been trolled. Quote
Guest Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Being "ignorant to the law", as you said above, doesn't make what you're doing right, and at 27 you should know better. You're essentially driving without insurance.Being on the other end of an accident where the driver was not insured, I hope you get caught the second you start riding it. Quote
