If you are fitting heated grips (and depending on which make) you may well find that you can wear summer gloves all year round.Heated grips have been my first best accessory for the last 20 plus years and I have honestly not needed winter gloves.I appreciate we are all built differently, but try the heat settings first before you invest in something you may not need. Your hands can cook quite nicely even at this time of year with a good set of heated grips and thin summer gloves. Quote
Tango Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 A set of hand guards and summer gloves would work well.......or some silk inner gloves....... Quote
Guest Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 does anyone know of any winter gloves that are just padded on the back of the glove and not on the palm You can buy gloves like this.. well, very similar. but because of the way they're made (and because they include goretex) this puts them towards the top end of the price scale. As far as Im aware the only makers so far are Rukka and Held.If you can cope with the looks.. then have a think about handlebar muffs just for the worst of winter. Because they will keep your hands out of the wind as well as dry, then there is no need to upgrade your gloves from those you would wear from late spring to early autumn. Quote
craigwf3 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 thanks for the replys i will look at those makes and the grips do keep my palms warm, they are oxfords sports grips, if it was naked my bike hand guards would do the trick. Quote
Glorian Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Careful on the palm grip. I bought a pair with great grip. Problem is rolling off the throttle sometimes it sticks to the glove(Rubber on rubber). Hence i use these as my pillion gloves now Quote
fq-craigus Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 You dont want anything too grippy you want something with less resistance to sliding. With heated grips i have worn my vented summer gloves all winter and at its worste i have put on some thin inner gloves. Quote
onesea Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I know your issues having just succumbed and fitted heated grips....I am out tomorrow and will be taking several pairs of gloves with me, I plan to try them all on each section...I have 2 pairs of Gortex gloves one set has always been my favorite winter gloves but the palms are well insulated and I think it might defeat the object! If my summer gloves work like suggested I will be asking about them myself! craigwf3 Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 its my summer gloves ive used lately and my palms are fine with heated grips, its just the back of my fingers and hand that feels the chill, Quote
onesea Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Well I tried various gloves today, I should of photographed before I put them away...Richa (cannot remember type, another no visible brand gortex, Lidels best and my light summer gloves....How would I rate them? Either Gortex pair where ok but outside of tips of finger still felt nippy... Lidel ones where same but a little worse, summer gloves the back of my hands got cold...I know form trying my non brand Gortex are quite good with a liner glove in, on any of them they is a huge improvement... numptyspence Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 With the heated grips get a pair of muffs fitted. I can ride all through winter in the same summer gloves no matter the weather, most of the time without turning the grips on. Quote
Mr Fro Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I hate to say it but muffs are quite good. The ends of my fingers usually hurt in the cold after a while as they dangle down and don't contact the heated grip. Curse you big hands! Quote

I hate to say it but muffs are quite good. The ends of my fingers usually hurt in the cold after a while as they dangle down and don't contact the heated grip. Curse you big hands! Muffs work in winter. Heated grips does not help for the fingers or the top of your hand. There are no winter gloves that can help you with that. Beleive me I have tried many. The gloves are too cloose to your hand and what happens is wind chill colds out the top of your glove. The cold sooner or later gets to your hand and fingers. You need to stop the wind chill. You can do that with muffs or good handguards only. The only thing that is close to gloves and works for me for a limited period of time is a good leather mitten. Mitten have a lot of free space and there is an air gap between your fingers and the outer mitten layer. No gloves has that. Means mitten work for half an hour winter ride fine. I have these and use them for short winter rides:http://www.motolegends.com/gloves/halva ... black.htmlAnything more and you are in muffs territory. Quote
