Can you give me your opinion on this please ladies & gents?

I bought a Viper RS-V151 bluetooth helmet in the first week of Feb. Last weekend the microphone broke. So with it only being a month old, I popped back to the small shop that I bought it from. They told me they couldn't do anything other than send it back to the manufacturer for repair but I should have it back for Friday.

Rang today and they don't have it back yet, might come tomorrow.

I'm thinking of asking for my money back tomorrow if it doesn't turn up by midday. It's kept my bike off the road all week.

What would you do?

think you would of been in your rights to exchange it for a new one or get your money back , would still be under warranty and you bought it from the shop not the manafacturer , know it was only the Mic but don't think I'd want a helmet I'd just bought repaired.

If its a manufacturer defect then I'm pretty sure you can get your money back or an exchange!

what you should have really done is kept a spare helmet :D

Yes your contract was with the retailer so it's upto them to put it right which should have been an exchange or refund.

They would then chace their supplier for an exchange or refund.

But since you've waited patiently, if it's not back tomorrow ask for some freebies as compensation. Or just a replacement/refund.

I tend to go easier on the small retailers.

Took me long enough to win the 'Can I get a motorbike?' Argument with the lady boss. To try and get a spare helmet so soon would see me swinging by my teabag from the tallest tree

The shop is a small outfit. Two brothers and s couple of staff. So I don't want to put to much pressure as I would with a large retailer.

But it's been great weather this week! 14 degrees today :crybaby:

You can pick up a plain unbranded but still with all the safety approval stuff helmet for around 30 quid :) I picked up one from a show after I did my cbt and wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it enough to sink loads of cash into it ( spoiler alert I did and have since sunk loads of cash in to it )

Cheers Hoggs,

Just looked on ghost bikes and they have a few on sale for under £30. Only 10 min from me so will go check them out.

cheap ones tend to be heavier and noisier at high speeds...

they all do the same job if you whack your head on the floor.

Cheers Joeman,

The weight won't bother me and the speed, well it isn't that fastest 125

Cheers mate and thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this :thumb:

Have a look at box helmets.

Cheap enough and decent enough.

I've had one in the past and still have one now as a spare.

Sales of goods act states the retailer must in the first 28 days either refund, repair or replace the item if it breaks down, and it's up to them and their store policy as to what they do.

Hope it gets sorted for you pal

Cheers for the info mate.

Think you might have misunderstood that. You don't have to wait 28days, they should have replaced it immediately.

No mate, it's the refund, repair or replace I was referring too. If they have the right to repair I'll have to wait.
