GrandadsMoto Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Hello all. Need a bit of help from the experts! We have a picture of my Grandfather in 1953 Yugoslavia. We cannot identify the bike in the picture, we are assuming is a Soviet or maybe some other communist motorbike, or we could be wrong. He was a police officer at the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You! http://imgur.com/a/z0TTc Quote
Guest Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Can you post full picture not just a tiny part of it. Then we might be able to figure it out Quote

Gerontious Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 At that time and in that country is it not more likely to be a JAWA? Tank badge isn't JAWA . I know that. the badge could be anything.. his local young communist pioneers club - anything.Jawa was huge at the time.. so I would start by ruling that out as a possibility. Quote

Mr Fro Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 At that time and in that country is it not more likely to be a JAWA?That's what I thought but the tank is the wrong shape (from the pic anyway) and the carb isn't right. Engine does look like a Jawa twin though. Quote
rennie Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I thought Ural but badge is wrong for them too Quote
Joeman Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 The cylinder head, carb and headlamp bracket look like a BSA bantam, but the badge is all wrong , and the space between the head and bottom of the tank is wrong http://i.imgur.com/ERMmfLN.jpghttp://www.motorcycle-usa.com/photogallerys/BSA-Bantam.jpg?378220 Quote
