Paddock stand for Honda CBR650F

I've had my CBR650F from new and it's about 9 months old. It's still pretty low mileage - approx 2500, and it's the first time I've cleaned the chain (my bad I now..). It was in a pretty confined space in my back garden and I could get to the whole chain by moving the bike. I want to get a rear stand lift and saw this on Amazon

It says I need bobbins too - which I hadn't heard of bedfore. I found some on Amazon as well

Has anyone got experience of using these with a 650F or are they standard sizes? And do I definitely need a bobbin?

Doesn't need bobbins, but does get slightly more in the way. Not used it with a big bike, but can't see why it wouldn't work.

That stand does need bobbins. they screw into the swinging arm, if it already has lugs for them to screw into.

i find that type easier to use than the universal cup type.

however it might be worth you looking at the ABBA stand which with the front adaptor will allow both wheels off the ground.

additional vote for the Abba stand, I've got one and it's perfect. If you've got the money to spare it's definitely worth it.

Thanks for the info about the Abba Stand but as I'll only be using this to clean the chain as I always get my bike serviced at the dealer, a basic stand would do me fine.

I'm still not sure how the stand would lift my bike. This is a photo of the rear bolt - does the bobbin replace this?

No. The bobbins screw into bosses which are are part of the swinging arm. Looks as though your bike does not have them so you would need a stand with cups to fit under the swinging arm.

Well, after me and my mate tried using this and nearly dropped the bike several times I've come to my senses, returned it and have ordered the ABBA stand which is £100 for my Honda 650F.

Risking damaging my £7K bike for the sake of £80 seems just plain stupid...

GOG's bike doesn't have a chain......like someone else's bike.....can't remember who's. .....but they keep harping on about it.....

Anyway.....back on topic....

Yep.....getting the bike on and off an ABBA stand is dead easy.......nearly as easy as getting my bike on and off its SSA stand.....

The ABBA stand came yesterday. It's amazing! Had the bike up and secure in 15 mins on my own..

Abba stands are great, but I really don't understand why so many people have difficulties using paddock stands. I've never had an issue using mine on my MSX or the Ducati.

Abba stands are good if you need to get the rear shock out and service the suspension linkages.....

+1 on the Abba stand.

I have one and have made different adaptors for the R1 & RGV.

To take the front wheel out I put the rear wheel in the air with Abba and wrap a ratchet strap around the headstock,throw this over a beam in the garage roof and hoist the front up.

Best bit is I paid £8 for the stand from a car boot sale.Dont think anyone knew what it was for or how much they are new.
