Need advice on touring tail pack.

Hi all,


Sorry I haven't been about in ages... :crybaby:


So Jay and I are heading France way soon and I am looking at pillion bags as I don't want to have my hard panniers on.

I like the look of this but haven't heard of the brand and can find very few reviews.


Can I have some recommendations for Pillion seat pack bags:

- Decent size

- Water resistant (Internal dry bags would be awesome)

- Flat top as the tent will be going on top

Why not?


The only bags I use are the waterproof duffle-style from Aldi (could be Lidl, I get them confused).

This is kinda how it is at the moment, would prefer just one big bag without the fear of roll mat slipping loose on some random French road! :lol:

Why not use the panniers?


leave the top box and stick everything in the panniers and strap the tent across the top

Hah! Do I look that ridiculous on the Sprint? :oops:

(Don't worry I know the answer...)


I like filtering and with hard panniers I can't as much, I also think they're somewhere in my mums loft... So digging them out could be an expedition in its own right. :shock:

Might consider it again if I can't pick a bag...

The panniers should't be that much wider than the bike


I managed to filter on mine with panniers and its much wider than yours :)

I have a Kriega tailpack. 30l and it's modular so you can add extra 20l or10l packs. I use it as I don't like putting to much weight in the top box. Attaches securely and can vouch for it being waterproof! I bought it second hand to keep the cost down.

No idea. They look like they would be. Mine has never seen rain.

That's confusing! Cuz the tank is in the back of the bike it's not a tailpack it's a tank bag! Lol

The bag has a harness pad thing that you could put on a "normal" tank if you wanted to :)

Much easier to pack than a conventional dry sack.......and waterproof too...... 8-)

I have one of those too, good quality but not cheap!
