Birdie Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I'm doing a long weekend and wanted something a bit easier to get on and off than my soft panniers. Found two tail bags that I like and they seem almost identical online. One is SW Motech (£155) and the other is Autokicker (£80). Am I paying for a name or am I paying for quality? The reviews aren't much use. Found one that said the Autokicker got a tear in the lining but rest say its good.https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=sw+motech+cargo+bag+tent+bag&client=ms-android-samsung&source=android-browser&dcr=0&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwicldnvgczYAhUOEVAKHbZ1AsAQ_AUICigC&biw=360&bih=512&dpr=3#imgrc=ckuJOXt6fc_8xM:https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=autokicker+companion&client=ms-android-samsung&source=android-browser&dcr=0&prmd=svin&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjFm6ndqc7YAhWOCuwKHT1lBuEQ_AUICygD&biw=360&bih=512#imgrc=kNsK5gvoVEzEmM: Quote
RantMachine Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Rule of thumb:If it says "SW Motech" or "Touratech" on it, yes you are paying for the name. Without fail. Although in some cases there's a chance that nobody else will offer an equivalent product. But not in the case of a tailpack, so go for the Autokicker Quote
raesewell Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I have had both SW Motech and Autokicker, SW Motech are definitely better quality but at a price. You may not need that quality for your needs, only you can decide. Quote
Bungleaio Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I have a couple of Kriega bags, I'm yet to use them all together in anger but I've used a couple individually and I'm very pleased with them. They aren't cheap but the quality is spot on, 10 year warranty too.https://kriega.com/bikepacks/us-30-drypack I have a US 30 and two US 10's Quote
Tango Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I've got a kriega us30 Tailpack that's a few years old now and has been through some epically wet weather without a hint of a leak......deffo worth the money IMHO. ..... Also have a look at Lomo dry bags......not as easy to attach and release from the bike as the Kriega stuff....but good value...... Quote
RantMachine Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Following on from what Bob said, because I swear by Lomo and have convinced a few others to try them with equally positive feedback:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lomo-Dry-Bag-Holdall-60L/dp/B01FSHJOAQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1515707120&sr=8-6&keywords=lomo+drybag+motorcycleorhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Lomo-40L-Motorbike-Drybag/dp/B00O254LHC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1515707280&sr=8-3&keywords=lomo+drybag+motorcyclePlushttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Adjustable-Strap-ROK-Straps/dp/B003DXRIBA/ref=pd_bxgy_200_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=40NHNJTMB24B7EJZBEF5Even cheaper, and fully waterproof without having to use an inner bag. Throttled Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Another recommendation for Lomo from me. The bags are tough and completely water proof. Quote
