Papalazabuns Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Hi all,So i passed my CBT last month and have done some right miles on my bike since. I live in a council flat and store my bike in a little shed underneath the flats, but since ive done this the flats have stunk of petrol. Obviously my neigbours arent chuffed and i risk the coincil being pissed. I was wondering if thos was normal? For the bike area, shed, whaterver to smell of petrol. Could it be because the bikes just beem running when i bring it in or is it something else?Ive just opened all the doors to let air in and moped up incase owts on the floor, shud that do it?Any insight into this is appreciated; i don't live in a great area so hoping to not have to start leaving her outside. Thanks Quote

Arwen Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 If you are not running the bike in the shed then it shouldn't smell that much of petrol. Do you have a leak somewhere? Quote
Guest Richzx6r Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Definitely sounds like you have a leak somewhere Quote
fastbob Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Yep , it must be leaking to smell so strongly of petrol . Quote
BIKERDAD Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Turn the petrol off just before you get home so the carbs are empty time you park the bike up . Quote
Noble Dave Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Bikes do have a distinct smell unlike cars etc but nothing overpowering. Quote

Valko Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 I have got similar issue, my garage is below one of my bedrooms. Since started to keep the bike in the garage there was a lot of nasty smell in the bedroom on exhaust fumes and petrol. Bloody builders they left tiny air gap between the garage roof and the walls. Two cans of gap expanding foam £8 later all is fixed never to have any smell. FYI you need a good ladder and 1 hour to fix it all:https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/expanding_foam/universal_expanding_foam/everbuild_fix_and_fill_expanding_foam_750ml_evff7_P23385.html Quote
