I mean if it wasn't for the dirty great big fairing & screen on my R1250RT that diverts most of the cold air away from you, the heated grips, my heated vest, trousers, insoles and gloves, then several woolly layers and a GoreTex suit I might have got cold. It was only a broken connector and BMW relieved me of £22 for a new cable, but at least my nether regions will be warm. Not as bad as mine! I went out in 5 degrees heated grips on heated seat heated jacket lovely and toasty Gets home thinking the seats not very warm after been on all day! Only forgot to plug it in from the last time I had the seat off 1 3 Quote

I'm sure they sell some good bearings, but in this case the bearings sent were their "budget" bearings. At under £4 listed price I'm not fitting them to my bike. I'll probably need to sell it soon due to hoping to retire and I'm not selling a bike with dodgy bearings installed. 3 Quote

If you paid for decent bearings then that's what you want. 1 Quote

S-Westerly Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) I've got heated grips now and I've been using heated inner jacket and gloves for ages. There's a reason my winter jacket is a size larger than my summer one! Edited February 15 by S-Westerly 3 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I got the rear wheel bearings installed, came to put it all back together and realised I should have checked the brake pads whilst the wheel was off. And of course they are getting low. Still usable but no point refitting them. So replacement pads ordered meaning it's still off the road for another few days. When will I learn? 2 Quote
Simon Davey Posted February 16 Posted February 16 @Mississippi Bullfrog It's the right time of year to keep it inside. Nice on Wednesday though Quote

Nice on Wednesday though I've been riding the Bobber instead. So long as there's no salt on the roads it's fine. But cleaning salt off it isn't much fun. 2 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The replacement brake pads and pin arrived so all is now sorted. I obtained the new bearings and brake parts from a company I've not dealt with so far. Motorcycle Products. Ordered Sunday evening, arrived Tuesday morning via Royal Mail. I'm very pleased with their service and quality of the parts. I shall use them again. The original bearings are on their way back to the sellers. 6 Quote
Popular Post ChrisBiggsUK Posted February 19 Popular Post Posted February 19 Over the past few days I have; Changed the battery. Changed the oil. Flushed out and changed the brake fluid. Removed a broken starter motor and fitted a new one. Cleaned the bike three times. Cleaned and lubed the chain. Buffed my helmet (bike helmet! get your minds out of the gutter!). I've gone from being a 43 year old pedestrian to a god-like super mechanic biker in a shorter amount of time than I expected. This is most excellent! And you are all to blame! 12 Quote

Simon Davey Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) 64 miles today, first ride in almost 3 months. All on country roads. I was actually quite nervous. I wore my new Nolan which pushes my glasses into my nose, but I'm sure it's my bulky jacket. Roads were really bad, I went after a couple of challenge tags and the Zumo tried to take me off road at one point, resorted to Google maps. Still, I was out for 3 hours, managed a couple of naughty red lines, and once I'd relaxed, I had a fantastic time. Freaking love my bike. EDIT: Should have posted this in the "with" your bike. Snap I also tested out my new Nolan N100-6 Today Love the wide Visor Also I would say it was as quiet if not quieter than the HJC I90 that I use most times Edited February 19 by V650 Quote

Me too, I was using a HJC i90 which I thought was very good, apart from being too big for me. Yes, the Nolan is a little quieter. I forgot my ear plugs today, and didn't feel as though I was being deafened. My thread regarding helmet liners, is about my XXL i90 2 Quote

RideWithStyles Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) Probably the best helmet Ive had was an x-lite 801. The race brand which is/was part of the same Nolan group that was viewed more tour/road segment brand. interior was better than shoie is which is very good. the mechanism feel was better than arai and sharks. visor vision, build and cost were with hjc and arai. lighter than the arai and miles quieter than even my shoei. pin locks never went missing some how, yet with my shoei I’ve lost twice as many as I did with my arai. nothing broken or wore out. probably the only down side was the chin vent could of been a bit wider/useful. actually I might even still have it somewhere???
