So (yesterday) I replaced the standard front brake hoses.

The original was a single line to a T above the mudguard, then one each side to the calipers.

I've fitted a HEL two line system, which is a line to each caliper from a double banjo on the master cylinder.

Easier to bleed through, and a great braking response.

Refitted the baffle and sanded away the "not for road use" etching from the end can followed by a cheeky buff back to finish 😎

You've not even taken it out yet..... Although, I bet you've had a couple of blasts down the road, at least.

Nope. Mod 2 is booked for 10th September, zero chance I'm risking points for a quick ride. I get enough opportunities to ring the cars neck to avoid temptation 😂

When do we get to see this bike of yours?

I probably posted in the project thread but here's a quick snap from last week. Still to refit the lower fairing. I will almost certianly end up putting a more civil end can on after my first few weeks of childish noise making becomes less novel.

There are plenty of db killers you can try to take the edge off, they slot into the exhaust between the pipe and the can. Plus you can baffle the can more.

If it proves too loud.

Cheers. I very much misjudged how violent this pipe was going to be

Measure your pipe internal diameter for this type of thing between pipe and can, just slots in.

Measure the internal diameter of the end of the can for something like this. Bolts in.

Cleaned up one pair of the power valves, had them soaking in white spirit all week to soften the carbon.

Pic is one set in pieces, the roll pin in the middle blade is the offending part that fails, this then allows the blade to slide too far and hit the piston, not a great design. Mine are a later version with double roll pins. There are billet ones available from Cougar but these are many £££s.

Changed the head stock bearings. It's one job i hate doing.

Loads of waterproof grease was used. So hopefully won't need to do it again.

Bolts secure versions are easier to install/take out but are more likely to disappear 🫥 when you don’t expect it.

the internal cur ring types are more secure but not quite as convenient. most designs don’t really allow much room so are a git to get on and even worse to get off, especially if flies off into your face or far away somewhere.

Just fitted a pair of Grip Puppies.

Not the best looking accessory for a sport bike, but then, at 20 years old, it's not the best looking sport bike 😂

Having removed the Oxford heated grips, I found my fingers were wrapping right around the new grips I'd since fitted, and I was getting a bit of mid-range vibration.

Now though, Just placing my hand around the fitted Grip Puppies I can feel instant comfort, and I should also get better circulation in my fingers.

Fitted another rear tyre yesterday 🙄

I'm going through one in less than a year at the moment 😁

Although the one I have just taken off still had a bit of life left in it but I'm off to Wales again in a couple of weeks so best to be safe than sorry

@Stu

What tyres do you put on a big machine like that?

Michelin road 6 gt

Thinking of trying something different next though as I'm looking at over 320 for the set and there is other tyres that are just as good these days!

My bike is heavy, not knowing what I needed, chap replaced the Road 4's with Bridgestone Battlax T31.

Only done 400 miles or so on them, they feel good, but not amazing. Time will tell.

I had a tyre with 43 miles on it replaced due to a puncture (£229). Then I fitted a lowering link to drop it 1 inch from standard. Now both feet are flat on the ground.

Cleaned the radiator today, sorry didn't take pictures as I was doing it in between rain showers. I noticed it getting hotter last week while sat in traffic. It's an annoyance with K12/13 models. Oh, and the K1600 too. They're positioned right where the road shite flicks up and gums them up. I have a Powerbronze fender extender on the front mudguard, not sure it makes much difference tbh. Cleaning them is an annual thing but I've done mine once already this year. It can be done in situ, only have to remove the fan and hose it from the back. Loads of muck came out.

Anyway, ran it afterwards and the fan kicked in as expected and everything is good again. Back to 3 bars on the temp gauge. I think it'll need replacing next year but for a bike that is 13 years old, that isn't too bad I think.

Got an adaptor plate for a Givi Topbox - I just can't get myself to put it on, it's too ugly.. but then I guess a top box is also ugly.
