daveinlim Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I watched TMF YouTube video today on what security he uses. One of them is the litelock Moto. When commuting to work in park on the street and bring my big chain and lock with me. This litelock seems like a great alternative. Gold standard, light weight etc but the gold standard bicycle version is reviewed by the lock picking lawyer and he uses about cutters and is through it in 16 seconds. Not exactly inspiring for the Moto version! I've not seen any genuine review online where they try to destroy it. Any experience here of this lock? Quote
Tiggie Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 I have seen a video of practically all chains being cut with croppers in less than a minute. The trick is to keep your chain tight and off the ground so they cant get a good purchase on it. Of course a lot of thieves now just use battery powered grinders so it wont stop them! Quote
inewham Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 Nice idea and resistant to bolt croppers but worryingly cut in 16s with cable shears on youtube Quote
daveinlim Posted June 14, 2020 Author Posted June 14, 2020 Yeah I've seen this video for the bicycle version. Id imagine the Moto version is much the same. Would be a great commuter option if it held up better to attack. Quote
manxie49 Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I seen these on TMF as well, they look pretty good, especially for commuting, travel. However, I think its the same as all security devices, there never gonna be 100% secure, if a light fingered scrote wants it he's gonna get get it! I'd be interested in seeing a cut / crop test being done on the motorcycle version. Quote
geofferz Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Any lock that isn't a thick chain can be cut quickly and easily. Thick chains take a good few minutes with an angle grinder. It's deffo better than nothing, and my chain is heavy af, so it's up to you really. Quote
