rob m Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 If you find yourself in the vicinity of Moffat , Crawford or Abington and you need somewhere peaceful to camp for free just PM me . In fact if you need any first hand information about camping in Scotland particularly the North West don't hesitate to ask . Cheers, appreciate that. Especially the free part The picture of your gear you posted on your thread was really helpful. A mate of mine who lives in Kilmarnock is riding down and meeting me and then taking me on a tour of some great roads up to area. Can't wait.I have one eye on the weather for next so happy to adapt and be flexible. It is going to rain, it's just how much I can avoid. I'll take getting wet and riding rather than no riding at all! Quote

So summer temps then I have the liner if temps drop anyway. I don't think you'll have to worry about that Quote
fastbob Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I've been cycling in Scotland in October and the weather was scorching . As an added bonus the lack of light pollution meant that the stars were spectacular at night . Quote

I can promise you, it is rarely that warm due to the wind chill and shade and in any case, when you sleep and do not move, the body needs more warmth. Plus, even on a decent sleeping mat, there is heat loss due to being so close to the ground. It will be more like single figures for the temperature and that sleeping bag is for high teens and twenties. Quote
rob m Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 This went tits up due to a bit of ill health but I have had a few days out on the bike and I'm going to Wales next week for a couple of days. All is not lost Quote
