Falling off the Edge of the World!

All Saints Day in Spain today.......so I took a run up the remote mountain road that leads to Santiago de la Espada. I was able to get about 25 miles before I had to turn back, or I'd have gone outside the perimeters of this area. And there are restrictions in place now.

This is quite a challenging road as the surface is pretty bad in most places, there's continual hairpin bends, and a drop of a few hundred feet at the sides in various places. There's also wild deer and wild boar roaming all over the place, and the deer have a tendency to leap from banks at the side of the road straight into your path.

There's no phone coverage either, and if you do encounter another vehicle it'll probably be coming at you on the wrong side of the road in one of the many hairpin bends. So this really isn't an area to bin it......because you're on your own! You go over the edge and nobody's ever going to know.

I think every bike I've had in Spain has done this road......some better than others obviously. But none of them have done it as easily as this Beemer! It really is an eye-opener......not because anything about it is particularly special, it's more a case of it being so well balanced and just so easy to ride.

So here we go......just a short vid but you'll get the idea.
