manxie49 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 I found this to be an interesting watch, especially the bit about having servicing / repairs done by a non franchised dealer invalidating warranty. I was always under the impression that any qualified mechanic could work on your bike?? Apparently not, the rules apply to cars only, not bikes or vans. Quote
Six30 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 i was always thought as long as you bought genuine parts and mechanic was vat registered, you could use who you want for servicing.i wiil take my bike to where i bought it while warranty is running, mind you my warranty is probably void now cause i changed headers. Ian Frog Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 In the event of a problem I am sure those original headers can go back on !I keep all OEM parts when I make changes.CheersIan Quote

Bender Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 It applies to vans too, mine can be done by another garage but has to be vat registered has to follow service schedule and must use oem parts. Quote
Mawsley Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 I paid/pay dealership servicing costs to keep new machines in warranty. Even then I had a fight with Guzzi with both of my Californias. A long, drawn-out, increasingly shouty fight. The first one corroded over a summer, the second one seized the shaft on the M40 in the outside lane. Despite this I’d love another old Cali. Some people never learn! Quote

Seized shaft must have been an arse puckering moment! The first shaft drive I ever owned was a CX500, I locked the rear wheel up on the way home after collecting it, went down the gears to quick and learned the hard way how unforgiving shaft drives can be Quote
