Callumrayb Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Hi, I'm super confused about my bars on my duke. I have seen videos of people fitting 7/8 bar end mirrors fine on dukes but I've had a look at mine and it seems they are not hollow and just have a thread inside, I have some bar end mirrors coming tomorrow and I don't even know if they will fit as they aren't hollow. Any advice? Quote Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 What is behind the end plate in the photo? Usually the threaded bit is the expanding piece which is removable. Quote

The expanded piece is apprently removable with an angle grinder whish I really don't want to do Quote
Callumrayb Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 Ok now I'm even more confused. The bar end mirrors came and they don't fit. Here's a pic of what it looks like Quote
WD-40 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 The threads on the mirror and the threads on the handlebars are different size. You can drill and tap the handlebars to match the mirrors or you can get different mirrors with the correct size threads for your handlebars. Quote

TimR Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 What it looks like is you need to pull out the insert/weight ( generally bonded in so a slide hammer and someone holding the bike steady And then the new mirror slide into bar and as you tighten the nut/bolt the rubber expands to lock in place. You may end up with vibrations on the bars by removing the weights though Or just not bother with bar end mirrors ( my personal opinion) Quote

mealexme Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I'd imagine the solution was what TimR suggested, as I was thinking the same thing, but as the original post was 3 years ago, I'm not sure you'll get a reply. @Will124467 are you having the same problem? Quote
RideWithStyles Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Yeah it will be a push fitment/bladder inside the tube. Quote
