Hi, I'm super confused about my bars on my duke.

I have seen videos of people fitting 7/8 bar end mirrors fine on dukes but I've had a look at mine and it seems they are not hollow and just have a thread inside, I have some bar end mirrors coming tomorrow and I don't even know if they will fit as they aren't hollow. Any advice?FSHT6QN.jpg

What is behind the end plate in the photo? Usually the threaded bit is the expanding piece which is removable.

Behind that rubber is just a small hole pretty much the same diameter as the hole in the rubber. The expanded piece is apprently removable with an angle grinder whish I really don't want to do

The threads on the mirror and the threads on the handlebars are different size. You can drill and tap the handlebars to match the mirrors or you can get different mirrors with the correct size threads for your handlebars.

Ok now I'm even more confused. The bar end mirrors came and they don't fit. Here's a pic of what it looks like

Well, given that a very quick search threw up the mirror below ("Genuine KTM Duke Genuine 64112940000 Bar End Mirror Motorcycle Replacement Part"), it looks like you just bought the wrong one.

What it looks like is you need to pull out the insert/weight ( generally bonded in so a slide hammer and someone holding the bike steady

And then the new mirror slide into bar and as you tighten the nut/bolt the rubber expands to lock in place.

You may end up with vibrations on the bars by removing the weights though

Or just not bother with bar end mirrors ( my personal opinion)

Now that you say it I think you're right, it does look like a piece of rubber.

I'd imagine the solution was what TimR suggested, as I was thinking the same thing, but as the original post was 3 years ago, I'm not sure you'll get a reply.

@Will124467 are you having the same problem?
