RAYK47 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Hi all, not been on here much but thought i would try to tap into some of the knowledge. All of this is assuming the world is a lot more normal than it is now and B&B's, cafe's etc reopen. I am booked on a Triumph tour on a Sunday in July and have been thinking about turning it into a mini tour, starting on the Friday. Does anyone know if there are any good places to visit around that area? or on the way (from Hertfordshire)? looking for anything interesting, even educational or cultural. Thanks in advance. Quote
Ian Frog Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Stop for breakfast at the super sausage on the A5 south of Towcester for a start lol. Cheers Ian Quote
RAYK47 Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 Good shout Ian, the planning commences .......... Quote
RAYK47 Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 thinking maybe of going off into the Cotswolds, i am a sucker for great scenery. Any recommendations? Couple of days there then onto Hinckley. Quote
Ian Frog Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 If the pubs are open turn off the A34 and head for Swindon and you should see a sign for Tadpole Bridge ! Really epic humpback bridge with expensive gastro type pub beside the canal Fantastic scenery and loads of places to stop and wander about. Cheers Ian Quote
S-Westerly Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 There's loads of really nice villages and pubs in the Cotswolds - trouble is all the well known ones like Bibury and Bourton on the Water etc are tourist rip offs. To find the decent pubs you need to get off the beaten track a bit. Also how many of them have survived this last year is anyone's guess. 1 Quote
RAYK47 Posted March 24, 2021 Author Posted March 24, 2021 Well the factory tour has been cancelled and i will need to rebook. Will probably go for August/September. Still want to do the Cotswolds mini tour and not decided if i do it as part of the original plan or if i do it sometime in July. Quote
Bungleaio Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) There’s no particularly great roads near the factory but if you have any technical issues with your bike and you need a hand I live very close. Edited March 24, 2021 by Bungleaio Quote
