SuperMe79 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Could the first post of this thread be edited / updated with a summary of the plan? I'm getting a bit lost in the 7 pages of responses! Where is the meet taking place and what time? Quote
SuperMe79 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Here's a linkhttp://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Clarence+Pier&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=8.765439,23.466797&ie=UTF8&ll=50.790908,-1.071682&spn=0.036624,0.091667&z=14 Quote
yaaan Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Bugger...gonna have to give it a miss now. The girlfriend's booked us a weekend away and chosen the weekend in question. Ah well, it is on the bikes so not all bad Maybe next time... Quote
yaaan Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Well I do but Cornwall's in the wrong direction Quote
SuperMe79 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Clarence Pier .. a wretched hive of scum and villainy! I decided to go have a look at the place today and took a few pictures. It's easy to find, just enter Portsmouth on the M275, follow the signs for Gunwharf Quays, then ride on past Gunwharf Quays and keep going straight. There are a couple of large carparks .. both free for motor cyclists. How will we identify each other? Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Nice one, I was going to go down there today while testing out the new bike. If it stops raining that is....... Quote
Paul Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Well I would have loved to have gone to this but alas I will be away, although not too far, just along the coast at Swanage/Corfe for the weekend (thurs to mon).I am working the Sunday the week before but can easily get rid of that job (cos it's worth about £250 so there will be someone to cover me at work) so I could meet up with someone the week before if there is a plan for that. TC Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Roy can we have have register thingy like we had for The ponderossa meet where we put down our names. It might be easier to see who's coming so we could meet on the way down. Quote

ade38 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Hi all, m names down but i havent posted yet! Not long now! So where are we all meetin as there are loads of car parks!? Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 There are motorcycle parking spaces. If you look on Google Earth at the small circular section where it says 'Buses Only' on the concrete sections in between the lanes are motorcycle parking spaces. I think. Quote
ade38 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Thats right, i'm sure we can all fit on there? Quote
MonkeyKnuckle Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I doubt it. It's okay we'll just block the bus lanes. Quote

I had a look at the concrete bits you mention when I visited last Saturday. They're not official motorbike parking spots but I think you could get about 15 bikes on each if you tried. The car parks are both free for motorbikes and do have some reserved bike spaces. Quote
ade38 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I went down about a month ago wtih maczx12 (when he had his bike) We just parked on those concrete bits, there were other bikes there. Quote
gary4286 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 i went down there tonight as we have a big bike night on the 1st wed of the month (good meet u should come down for that) anyway there is a bike parking spot round the back of the arcade when you get there you will see a crazy golf thing with a big skull and there is a nice car park there. i would recomend that as its free and that place right by the buses there are bikes always parked there but i have seen the old trafic wardens get funny with us. up to you guys i would recomend that tho.looking foward to seeing you all down here. Guest Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Just FYI - All the parking spaces along the front are free for bikes, says so on the parking meters Quote
