Hi everyone, new here but could do with some advice.

I went for my CBT yesterday and wasn’t 100% confident so will be returning for a second day. For what it’s worth I have absolutely no experience on a motorbike.

We we’re doing training on the bikes from around 8am to 2pm on the bike and I started experiencing hand pain quite early on.

At first I thought that I was gripping to hard but thinking on it I think it was because I have very small hands (not an exaggeration) and I feel it was the reach to the clutch/brake was overextending my hand and causing the pain.

I’ve seen that you can get adjustable controls for when I have my own bike but obviously I can’t put these on the bike at the test centre! I’m worried that the hand pain is going to be to much again next time and that I’ll never be able to concentrate on the end ride as I’m thinking about my hands.

any suggestions? Thank you.

FWIW - when I came back to biking after some years away from it I found that the first few times I was out on a bike I got quite bad cramp in my hands. A bit of exercise with one of those squeeze ball things seemed to resolve the issue.

Speak to the school when you go back. Tell them what you think was happening and ask the school/instructor if you can adjust the span of the brake lever and change the biting point of the clutch lever to suit you.
As far as I know all geared bikes have adjustable levers.
You need to feel comfortable when riding.

Thank you I’ll do that, I think at the time we all assumed that I was gripping to hard. It’s unfortunately going to be around 6 weeks before I can go back so I’ll try some exercises and see if I can get some practice in as well.
