Hi everyone I'm thinking of getting back into bikes .I passed my bike test in 1981 and have a class A licence. Will I now need A CBT test to get insurance for a 300cc bike

No you can ride what you like, but you might consider doing a refresher day with a school first if you haven't ridden for a long time, or just get a bike and ride :thumb:

I second the suggestion of a refresher session with a school … I did that when I got back into bikes three years ago. Really good idea.

If you've an A licence you won't need to do a CBT but I really, really think it would be a good idea to do a refresher day or two first. If you've not been on a bike for many years you'll find modern bikes are a quite a bit different! That said if you are limiting yourself to a 300 cc bike you shouldn't get into too much mischief.

Hi and welcome to the forum

If you have a class A entitlement with no restrion codes next to it then you will be able to ride anything

If you're unsure then post a picture of the back of your licence and someone can confirm it for you

Hi Ian,

”Title” refers to the title of the the thread, not your name. 😜 The fact that you assumed that makes you my new favourite poster, however.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!
