Ellyt247 Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 I've been thinking for a while now that I want to get an action camera for my bike. I'm not one for doing video posts or track days (yet) but just want one to record rides and have just incase something happens. I'm not after something flashy or expensive but something half decent at a reasonable price. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on ones I should look at? Quote
Pie man Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 @Ellyt247 I have both Go Pro and Drift camera's however, I use a Drift Ghost-X when I was commuting. You can change all settings via phone app. Loop record or record all on SD card, take still pictures etc. Battery life approx 5hrs at 1080/30fps. Play back on phone etc. Not cheap, but not in the same league as the Go Pro. I think the Drift X retail £130. Quote
Bungleaio Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 For a fit and forget system that you don’t have to charge or activate etc then I recommend Innov. Not particularly cheap but they are decent. Quote

The video quality is not quite as good as the Go Pro’s but I only use it for myself and mostly only if anything untoward happens. Edited May 30, 2023 by fullscreenaging Quote
veracocha Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 I have the Techalogic DC-1 which provides front/rear recording; very good footage for insurance purposes. For an action camera I use the DJI Osmo action 3. Too many failed recordings means I have moved away from go-pro altogether. Quote
manxie49 Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 I have an INNOVV fitted to my bike which is pretty good if you want something you can fit and forget about. Other than that I would choose GoPro for Clarity of footage and ease of use. I used to use a Drift 4k, but the sound quality, unless you used an add on microphone, was crap. With the Drift, you can switch off front or rear built in mikes but it didn't make any difference. Quote
Ellyt247 Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 Thanks for the advice all. Some cameras I've been looking at have been mentioned, so I just need to decide on one. Quote
