Morning all, hope your having a good day,to those that are getting the bad weather stay safe, I have classic insurance with bikesure, including free breakdown and legal, but wondered as I still have a few years work left in me, if I should take out the personal accident insurance being offered me? When I used to ride this didn't cross my mind, but with responsibility etc is it worth it or not worth the paper it's written on? I have read others who you recommended specialist solicitors if accident not your fault, to get compensation, but nothing about this insurance, your thoughts and experiences would be much appreciated

Thank you fiddlesticks, I will compare and already have life insurance, just wondered if anyone had experience on claiming for not being able to work for while due to injuries (hopefully never needed), I've had other insurances that when it comes to it ,don't pay out on obvious things that should be insured, even after thinking i exhausted asking so many questions to check , hence is it needed or is it a con?

No experience of it myself, but an absolute must is "read the small print" ...... My brother had an accident, injury and unemployment policy a few years ago, thought it was a good idea to have so if the worst happened he wouldn't be left struggling. Anyway,  he was sadly made redundant.  When he tried to claim on the policy he had there were so many obstacles put in his way it was laughable.  He would openly say that it was the biggest waste of his money ever.  That said, I'm sure there are some very good companies out there, just be safe and do your research.  Cynically I would say that some companies seem very eager to take your money, but try every trick in the book to get out of paying if the worst happens.

Personal accident will pay you a lump sum due to a serious accident. Something like critical illness will pay regular monthly sums to you. Different policies pay out for different conditions and different causes of the injury.

If you work with your hands like say you're an electrician then you may need it more than if you work say at a desk job. Also if you're self employed it could be more important.

Totally as the above. I knew someone that thought they were covered in this situation and when the worst happened found that their insurance was next to useless.

Tread very carefully.
