Steve_M Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 29 minutes ago, Pie man said: I've also compared costs and the Hull-Rotterdam is more than double. I was Quoted £445 for the Ferry compared to £95 for the Tunnel. you can add £65 for accommodation, I think its the long boring slog to the Chunnel and back that kills any trip. The good thing about the ferry, two and a half hours and I would be home, instead of the 5 hrs now. I’ve just paid £391 for the ferry including a cabin upgrade (£20), not including the £20 cash back for using my Lloyds card. Using the tunnel would need an additional two nights’ hotel - one night in each direction, hotel room for two: we budget £120 per night for a hotel. So that’s £335 plus additional fuel (about another £30). Without the cabin upgrade the costs aren’t too dissimilar for us. And we then don’t have the ball ache (or butt ache) of dealing with the 7 hour ride that includes the bloody awful M6 down to and around Brum (or toll @ £9 a shot), M25 and M2. Obviously our circumstances are different as I’m carrying a pillion which adds to hotel costs for us. 2 Quote
Pie man Posted January 21 Posted January 21 If the Mrs was joining me we would be going from Hull too, and there's no way she would be camping and staying in sub £60 hotels 1 Quote
