Bender Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 They want feedback on standing charges because apparently they had lots of complaints after raising it last time, I wonder why The excuse for not lowering it last time was that would mean some vulnerable high use users would see bills go up, it made no difference that hundreds of thousands if not millions of hard up folk who watch every penny can't save because they are hammered by standing charge no matter how little they use. It's laziness on behalf of the companies who could identify and protect vulnerable high use customers who are far exceeded by hard up users. No form just mail them your thoughts [email protected] 2 1 Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Ofgem is not fit for purpose, scores 1 out of 5 on trustpilot, if you believe trustpilot. They are giving you lip service and that's it, you should be used to it by now.. 1 Quote
Bender Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 Remember we're going into election mode, gov will poke anything with a stick if they think it will help them, which I doubt it will. 1 Quote

It's iniquitous that our supplier has a standing charge that is higher than the price cap. 1 Quote

S-Westerly Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 War and pestilence accounts for some but a hell of a lot is our own successive governments having no proper plan for energy supplies. For example per unit costs of electricity in the USA are half what they are in the UK. That's because they have more generating power than us and partly because they produce a huge amounts of oil and gas of their own including by fracking. Of course in the UK that's a no-no. They are actually selling LNG and crude oil to us at a very nice profit thank-you very much. We are the world's leading suckers. 3 Quote
