Post a report on the SeaFoam.  I'm sure quite a lot of us would be interested.

Reading the destructions, they suggested that the more you add, the better the clean.

So I ordered 2 bottles 😂

I'll keep you posted.

I've used seafoam in my Shadow.

Both as fuel additive and in the engine oil.

The engine oil was due to the clutch starting to slip.

The problem was solved in minutes and never had a problem again.

I'm the fuel I use it when I know the bike will be stopped for a few weeks.

The engine starts first time with little crank. Like 2 turns and is running.

I have used it on the pan too, however, because runs more than the shadow and it's injection I don't feel much difference.

I strongly recommend it for carb bike as it keeps the system clean and problem free.

  • 2 months later...

Blimey, months later.....

I'm proper excited this morning, I'm just about to take my bike to the menders local to me.

They guy has told me how he's going to strip the carb's, and remove the jets giving it all a good clean.

Fingers crossed.

The seafoam didn't work then?

Hell yes!

Just didn't unblock the jets.

I fact, I'm convinced the jets are more blocked because the tank, fuel pumps and hoses are all unblocked. That crap has only one place to go, and that place is the carb's.

It was running on 2 cylinders last weekend 😒

By the time I get it back, I'd have lost a month of summer riding.

Next bike will be fuel injected.

You don't have a fuel filter?😳😳😳

Yes, and it was replaced, but it's only between the tank and fuel pumps. Any crud built up in the pumps had probably come out.

To be fair, those bloody idle jets have been blocked since I got the bike.

Also, when I drained the tank, the fuel was quite cloudy and waxy, it's possible that my last E5 fill 10 miles before this current major clogging was a dodgy one.

I could be just clutching at straws.

What the tank drain before or after the Seafoam?
All mostly is in sea foam is isopropanol (alcohol cleaner) and hydrocarbons.

Not sure what happens exactly to Seafoam when it’s added to fuel but if it’s got water in there it’s not gonna be keen mixing in with it  or even help burn it off as it’s insoluble to water…

wondering if you have a cap sealant problem and water/moisture is getting in the tank easily so it’s getting cloudy(water in the fuel) and that’s partly what’s clogging it up? Just a thought.

The Seafoam is long gone, that wss 3 tanks ago.

I don't ride in the rain, and the bike is stored inside.

There was no water in the tank, when I drained it, and the bike had run through the previous tank without serious issue.

I filled up with the gauge on the red, although not on reserve.

It's either the latest tank of fuel (now used in my lawnmower) or shite from the fuel system. Either way, those jets are clogged.

I bloody well hope that's all it is, as I'm desperate to get to Germany and back.

Thanks for the input and suggestion @RideWithStyles

👍🏽.

most of the time the pumps are not the lowest part of the tank so even if the pump can’t draw anymore out more often than not there is still a litre or so (depending on tank design) of fuel or shite sat at the bottom waiting for you.

unfortunately your just unlucky/missed the preventative maintenance point with it. Just strip, clean and reset the carbs then all will be well in the world again.

trying to clean injectors are a pain in the arse as the method used is very different, not always successful and costly to replace.
