old age insurance?

someone mention if you downsize it's difficult to go back up to a bigger bike.

I'm 72 coming up to 73.currently I have a Forza 750 after my two long trips plan later (due to the weight of the Forza).

I'm considering going for the ADV 350 around aug or later.also I have a NC750S which I plan to sell next year for a Triumph 400x.

the question is have any body experience this?

I would think that is more the height than the weight of the bike.

A 1100 shadow is low enough to be handled easily.

maybe so twice I nearly dropped it taking out of the garage.

question was about the ins. a guy on another forum couldn't have multi bike ins now the he turned 75.

he has been using them for years.so much for loyalty.

Maybe the insurance group the bike is in could be a factor. I mean if you went from your Honda to a sports bike they may question you, but mid sized bikes of limited power? They may take the opportunity to charge you more but as long as you pass your medicals you should be ok l would hope.

don't get mix up with the X-ADV different beast altogether.the adv 350 is a much lighter and more manageable than my 750 .

as for one I like to have two and always have done. both on seperate ins. both cost me about £120 each, f/comp which means a glorified 3rd party.

its highly unlikely that I will go for a large capacity bike these days. I usually ride around about 60 mph and 70 mph so a medium size will do .

like the 500 honda etc.

I've never been one for big fast bikes.

the biggest was a Tracer 900 which I didn't like so sold it after about 9 months.

fastest I've had.. was a thundercat 600 ,had 2 of them.

to be honest I've no interest in big horses or fast bikes.

to me any bike that is capable of hitting  90-100 mph is plenty fast enough.

if its capable of doing 100 mph then I know I wont be screwing it neck doing 80 mph for long periods.

Some of the guys I ride with are older than me. One of them went for a Honda CB300R and got on very well with it. Another has been through a series of bigger bikes and then got rid of them within a few months because he finds the weight of them is a problem. I keep suggesting he goes for one of the new Triumph 400s.

 

I have a 1200 and a 500. You can still have a lot of fun on a smaller capacity machine.
