Dugggie Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Picking up my first bike in 20 years in about an hour. It’s a 2014 ST1300 Pan European. A bit nervous about low speed manouvering at first, but a 240 mile trip home should blow the cobwebs away. Used to ride CBR600F back in the day, so a little step up. I’m a little excited. 7 Quote

Popular Post Dugggie Posted May 27, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted May 27, 2024 Thanks all, had a blast riding back, 240 miles. Getting used to the low speed manouvering and some of the corners were a bit nervy, but all good. Now planning my trip to Switzerland next year to visit my son and his family. 10 Quote
Dugggie Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Also if anyone has any recommendations for some refresher lessons in the South Wales area please let me know. Quote
Simon Davey Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) Nice looking bike! Look at police one day courses, or even the fire brigade. I'm on the other side of the world in Essex, there's a thing called "Fire Bike". Edited May 27, 2024 by Simon Davey Quote
RideWithStyles Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) Nice! some local motorbike schools (tutoring) do them, one near me used to do them while i was there. Edited May 27, 2024 by RideWithStyles Quote
bonio Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) Bikesafe is the programme run by the coppers. Not every constabulary runs them, and they aren't all identical, but the one I did in Cambridgeshire was excellent. It was free iirc. It's aimed at newish riders wanting to progress further; perhaps it might work well for you. Edited May 27, 2024 by bonio 1 1 Quote
brotorbike Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Congrats on the new ride, @Dugggie! Sounds like you had a great ride back Quote
husoi Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 You can always watch some yt clips about slow riding. An excellent channel is, ride like a pro Jerry Palladino, an US ex copper who does training for heavy bikes. Then get to a supermarket car park and practice. Nothing will teach you better than lots of practice Welcome to the pan club 1 1 Quote
