veracocha Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Motorcylce live is coming up in a few weeks and I will be on the lookout for a Gore-tex jacket. I'm no stranger to outdoor gear having spent half my life in the Scottish winters watching wildfowl come and go. In those years I have had a few Gore-tex jackets that did not keep out the elements, some costing a fortune but in the end one cut the mustard. Obviously a motorcycle jacket differs in many ways so I am looking for one that absolutely remains dry, with quality protection. Budget is up to £600. Can anyone suggest a decent bit of kit? Quote
RideWithStyles Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Not really it’s all a lottery if it (the single item/jacket was manufactured correctly in the first place. fit to you, features you want and finish is up to your requirements…. 1 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Sportsbike are doing an Oxford Mondail jacket and trousers for £350 at the moment. Laminated membrane, waterproof but their own version of goretex (Dry2Dry laminated waterproof). 1 Quote
bonio Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 I got my Rukka jacket secondhand from ebay about 10 years ago. It's still 100% waterproof. It's laminated gore-tex. To be fair, the HG waterproof jacket I have, which must be 20 years old now, is nearly as good and hasn't a drop of gore-tex in it. 1 Quote

My Wein jacket has done about 20 k miles over 5 years but is now at the end of it's life. I've ridden in a lot rain and stayed dry. 2 Quote

Given up returning them, let water in every time it rains, now I only use them for summer riding, they have decent enough vents. I also have a Rukka Laminated suit for winter commuting, not let a drop of rain water in, my 4/5th year of commuting in them, no issues. Wouldn't waste my money on anything else. 2 2 Quote

Capt Sisko Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 (edited) I've been using a Richa Atlantic Jacket & Trousers combo since 2019 and they've never let a drop in. There's a mk ii version just come out so there might be some old ones available in the clearance sections. If that's too much money, just spotted this. From what I've read elsewhere they've had good reviews. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/mcn/content_prod/433519/#/500,3560,3794 Edited October 21, 2024 by Capt Sisko 1 Quote
