But great to see the little scrotes get caught :-)

Yes, but the problem is that the Police catch them and then the CPS say there is insufficient evidence so the scrotes walk away laughing.

In Ireland Our cops get chased by the robbers :-(

See my video above

That video was a bit crazy. What did the guarda think they were doing? I've seen members of the public do more for law and order.

I would say they just went back to the station and had donuts

For such a small country crime is rampant :-(

The other problem comes of when if said person or an innocent bystander get injured or killed if the police had taken action…most of the normal coppers are not “trained enough nor insured for said pursuit”.

the officer(s) are on the back foot on the aftermath….as a use of “only got injured when you chased him”.

now for you and me it’s fair deal if scrote got messed up but in court and back room enquiries the officer(s) are in the wrong straight away.

so most of the time, most are really are not trained enough, mostly just visiting a person with a fact pack of what other services they might need as a victim of something.

I know someone will say of will just tazer or shoot the, use a….but everything is means tested to equal force required.

at best they crush a vehicle, though most of  claimed to be owned by someone else (friend/family member) and taken without permission so said vehicle has to be returned to them for another round of chase a few weeks later….

That’s a good pinch manoeuvre and no real damage to people or coppers bikes cos that costs us.

i love how the vid, the back wheel chucked up the front wheel of the right scooter and threw it down.

Was just looking on reddit and someone posted a piccy of their bike

Was left outside and when they took the cover off they noticed that the left handle bar was broken and hanging down

At first they thought that maybe someone had knocked it over or banged in to it with a car or something

It would appear some scrotes tried to steal it by trying to break the steering lock using a foot against the bars

I just thought to myself this could be a great anti theft idea Collapsible handle bars that would break off when some Scrote tries to steal it

what do you think ?

Nope terrible idea.

Why is that ?

Think about it.

if they want it they will nick it anyway, more than likely it’s an opportunity scum wants a joy ride. Or without a van because even a broken bar will not batter an eye lid over if they put it in the van to nick the bike.

If its got a decent immobiliser the likly hood it’s not getting sorted by the road side while they nick it anyway. That would be at the garage to strip it down/off.

You or someone does:

tries to break the steering lock which is generally quite weak in most bikes. but yet it breaks the bar.

A car-wall rub/push into it. It breaks.

A simple low speed or no speed roll/drop/slide. It breaks.

if you do a wheelie or stoppie (purposefully or not) land it not too well. It breaks.

Jar of pot holes. It breaks.

Force of a tank slapper.it breaks.

you see that happening when it’s not particularly designed to break off so you make it do it?

all many many miles from home!

Then having to wait Many hours for the recovery truck and the drive home or at best pushing it with one less bar to balance it…probably falls over again on the haul and snaps the other side off plus extra damage, Then trying to push a bike without any bars….

now in ss300 even on a controlled environment of track riding it back with the bar snapped off is taken with a very dim view with officials.

so to do that on the road I’m sure a copper would definitely throw the book at you and don’t even get me starting if you hurt someone because you couldn’t or wasn’t in control of the bike…

id rather it build properly that can cope and not have sacrificial parts (its bad enough if levers go) so where it’s not actually needed, no thank you.

Many years ago some low life’s tried to steal my car from the works carpark. In trying to defeat erring lock they snapped the steering column..

Was fun watching the recovery guy driving it onto a low loader using a pair of mole grips on the remaining bit of steering column.

The car was a cavalier SRI 140, no power steering.

At the very least having collapsible handle bar would make it difficult to load in to a van :-)

Might rethink my bucket list Great Atlantic Way. Looks like Ireland is even worse than us which is saying something.

Yeah unfortunately I would skip it unless you could complete it in one shot without stopping for a toilet break :-(

I would be looking toward Scotland Wales or somewhere warm like Portugal

That's a bit shite.

Dunno what's happened to Ireland. It seemed like a magical place when I used to visit back in the eighties. It was a place where you could read 'At Swim Two Birds' and it all made perfect sense. Now it's where wealthy geeks go and buy multi million euro homes with views over Dublin Bay. The little people must be packing their bags and emigrating. 😟
