Hi peeps,

Decided on the bike I want to buy it’s second hand being sold at a bike shop.

If I wait till Jan will it go down in price? Or is now the best time to buy?

of course if I wait I might miss out altogether but happy to take that risk

thanks in advance 🙂

The un-answerable question......

Maybe they'd take a small deposit to hold it until January?

BUT, if you're happy to risk losing the purchase, is it really the bike you want?

Have you tried it for fit, made sure your knees aren't too high, and that your not putting too much weight on your wrists etc. etc.?

I doubt there would be much difference between now and January.. You could try and bargain with them now and if they won't play ball leave them your phone number and tell them you'll think about it.

I get the impression bikes aren’t selling quickly. A dealer I’ve been looking at seems to have had the same stock for quite a while now.

Thanks oh and yeah av sat on it and I like the bike just trying to see if I can get a bit off lol

There won't be a price difference between now and January, tell them you'll have it now if they can give you a better price. If they say no, you can leave it until January.

I've had the same bikes on my watch lists in Autotrader and Ebay for months. I gave up trying to sell the XJR and/or the Thunderbird and decided to get a bigger garage instead.

Haggle now. It won't make any difference leaving it until January.

If you can't agree a price walk away....then you can always go back if it's still there in a few weeks.

I've found that worked for me, though obviously you take the chance of someone else buying it in the meantime.

Agree with all the other comments, very much doubt the price will come down due to new year. If you've got cash in your pocket, like @Mississippi Bullfrog says.....get to haggling. If they've got chance of a sale there and then.... likely to knock a bit of mulah off

If bikes aren't shifting and given the discounts available on a lot of new bikes I'm guessing they aren't, a certain sale now is going to be more appealing to a dealer than maybe one in January especially if the salesman is on a commission.
