Popular Post Hoggs Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) So we had a BRAND NEW CHAMPION in @teo63 smashing the competition and improving from his solid silver last year Remind me what I need to do….. 1. Go to this thread and grab yourself a unique number: https://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/topic/52518-challenge-2025-registration/#comment-641963 2. Check the map here to find out where you need to go (hopefully one of these at least works for you) https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=17-9_mbQHncoaHaueTqtPtFEpiNKf7A4&usp=sharing https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?hl=en&mid=17-9_mbQHncoaHaueTqtPtFEpiNKf7A4&ll=53.62978384839931%2C-3.0517944999999926&z=5 3. Take a picture of you or your bike outside the location with your number in sight (if you forget your number making one out of twigs or leaves is perfectly acceptable and encouraged) 4. Post that picture in this thread (this one right here!) 5. Update your point total (found in your profile). Occassionally I may post an update on the scores, but let's face it I am pretty rubbish at this. 6. Have fun! General tags. As before there are FIFTEEN tags per mainland UK region. Once again I have for some insane reason listened to the feedback ( @Nick the wanderer) and added a BRAND NEW REGION I have named this “South Midlands” and it follows the same incredibly random Hoggs logic of every other region. Seriously, do not trust me to ever give you directions. So EVEN MORE TAGS OH MY GOODNESS HOGGS YOU ARE EVEN BETTER THAN SANTA PLUS bonus rounds in the Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Northern Ireland. Due to rude people actually getting IoW and IoM I had to do these again. @Throttled can have a co-creator point for the IoM and I added an extra one just so he couldn't take full credit. WEIRD AND WONDERFUL there are a couple of BLUE MAGIC 8 BALL TAGS already listed under this - These are just places that made me laugh when I found them. I will as usual extend this to a bonus round, so if you find weird stuff then post it up. You don't NEED to get my 8 ball tags but they are good examples of what I find weird and wonderful so use them as inspiration. As usual 10 for the first 10 you find, 5 for every one after that I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT PLACES IF THEY ARE NEITHER WEIRD NOR WONDERFUL!!!! So, 10 points per tag as usual with the 50 point bonus for completed regions/bonus rounds (these are clearly separated into colour groups on the map). There will be a spreadsheet of doom again that I use to keep track (badly) of the scores. As always you can challenge my counting and I will probably make sarcastic comments before going and doing it properly Pub Round – Ah the pub round. As last year I will extend this to cafes and eateries and as before I am encouraging you when required to abandon strict logical thought and embrace the delightful world of abstract thinking. For example, gluttony could be the Fat Cat and for Wrath I would use St Judes Brewery Tavern because the song Hey Jude makes me so angry I want to punch McCartney in his stupid smug face. Sins and Virtues Pride Greed Wrath Envy Lust Gluttony Sloth Faith Hope Charity As always this thread is for PICTURES ONLY. If you want to tell me how awesome I am then you can do so here https://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/topic/52552-challenge-2025-discussion-and-scores/#comment-642215 For the new arrivals the discussion thread can also be used if a tag is no longer actually there. It may surprise you, but I don’t actually physically go to the places. I transport myself there magically through Google maps. And sometimes it hasn’t been updated. In the event of a “dead tag” I will find a suitable replacement. If the establishment has just changed its name please advise of the new name, the file will be updated and points awarded. Again I think we are garden centre heavy with a good smattering of farm shops thrown in for good measure. There are a few scenic spots that I think will have some kind of info board / sign but if not just take a lovely picture of the view because I trust you. GO!! GO!! GO!! Throttled Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) Faith, Hope and Charity. The Quarriers charity, providing dozens of homes for orphans, all in one large village near Kilmacolm, founded in 1876 and Faith and Hope Avenues. Once a year, they ran a huge football tournament, inviting local youth groups to join in and I have fond memories of a day of football on made up pitches between the different houses. Popular Post RobbietheTenor Posted January 17 Popular Post Posted January 17 (edited) A quick limber up around my back yard today:- South East England - Squerryes Winery South East England - Reuthe's Lost Gardens of Sevenoaks Lust - not a brilliant image as it was difficult to park the bike and get a decent shot so I hope it's acceptable, but this is a pub called "The Cardinal's Error" (wonderful name). The lust element is nothing to do with any cardinal; the pub is rumoured to be haunted by Nellie, a poor farm girl who was made pregnant by a local man who promised her marriage and thus his fortune before jilting her. She dressed in her wedding finest and drowned herself in the pond behind the pub - the sin of lust can have consequences.... Edited January 17 by RobbietheTenor Spelling error 10 Quote
