Hello, can someone tell me, if I'm selling a motorbike, do I list the bike as having 5 owners from new (this includes me as the present owner) or 4 owners (not including me)? Also, what about service history? The book is stamped up until I bought it and I've done my own servicing since then and they've all been well under the 3000 recommended miles. I have every receipt so can I list the bike as having a full service history?

Thanks.

5 owners from new.

I'd call that full service history. But you'd be better off including what you've said here in the description, so people know what to expect before they make the effort to come and see it.

Full service history

If it was all stamps from dealer then it's full dealer service history

I once viewed a car from a dealer that said full service history. I always inspect history carefully to see what’s been done but there were 2 or 3 services missing. I asked and he said that he had documentation of every service that had been done and that’s why it had full service history.

When it’s true, my adverts say “serviced in accordance with manufacturers spec and with all invoices and receipts included”.

Agree with all.

if dealer/garage has done all the jobs to it it’s full dealer service.

as long as you can prove it had the invoices relating to the service you have done to it it’s a full service with accordance to but only if you have done EVERYTHING (or more) as the book requires….like change pipes etc when required at X yr and X miles as a lot of people don’t bother with that so it’s not following the book.
If that is so you could just say great/good history, with loads of receipts and history. Most people are happy about that and may inquire but let them know/see for themselves.

that’s the way id do it anyways

the other of doing your own work to it is , how much a buyer is will to trust your work?

worded as 4 previous owners, or 5 current owners.

It's always worthwhile to keep a folder of receipts for things you've done/bought for the bike. I keep mine in two half’s, one being parts for servicing & spares (oil & filters for servicing, tyres, brake pads etc), all with dates & mileages written on them. Basically 'things' done to the bike to keep it serviced, legal and generally in good working order. The second half is for equipment I've bought for the bike. The top box, a replacement screen and other none service parts that I've fitted to make it suit me. If you sell these with the bike, fine pass the info on, if not they go into the next bikes folder or with the ever increasing, 'I'll keep that, it'll be useful one day' box.

To me that folder shows to the prospecive buyer that you've cared for the bike and it's not some polished ebay turd that you're trying to flip and just make a few quid on.

There's also some dealer workshops I wouldn't trust either. Once took my bike for a service and the workshop tech adjusted the chain so it was so tight there was no slack at all.
