billysugger Posted March 24 Posted March 24 As in title. just learn both my bikes have been taken from the parking area of my old address. I lost my flat after losing my job after a disciplinary hearing, so moved into temp accommodation, and the ex landlord ended up having to store my property. some how all my keys went missing, both to my garage and the bikes. For weeks i have been trying to get answers to where the keys were without success. I have been pestering the housing manager of the ex flat to find out how they managed to move two heavy bikes chained together from one part of the car park to another. today I get a message both bikes were taken by a black van weeks ago from the car park, and they just thought it was me shifting them 10 Quote
Simon Davey Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Obviously something to do with the landlord. Really sorry to hear this @billysugger 1 Quote
billysugger Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 That's my thinking, but how to prove it. Whoever took them must have had the keys to both chains/padlocks, a well as the ignition keys, else the other residents of the block would have noticed somebody with a angle grinder 1 2 Quote

bonio Posted March 27 Posted March 27 That's a complete kick in the balls. Really gutted for you mate. Quote
billysugger Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 What really irks me, and that's an understatement, is the managers of the retirement complex where I lived knew about the keys situation because I've been pestering them about how they managed to move two bikes locked together from one part of the car park to a more "out of site" area if they didn't have the keys to the padlocks, and I didn't have the keys to be able to move them off their property and would they find out what has happened to them Quote
Old-codger Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Sorry to read about your troubles, I would be checking the area out for cctv covering the site or roads around the area. Then asking to view that footage. If they know a black van removed them they obviously know what day it was. Try to narrow down the time line, Keep asking questions and pester them all the while and ask other residents what they saw or heard. Ask the management of the flats who were given access to your flat and at what time and date and for what reason. Your landlord had a duty of care to look after your property and should have given you notice if he was going to dispose of any of it. Good luck I hope you get the bikes back. 2 Quote

billysugger Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 (edited) Thank you to all on here. Unless I get them back I think my biking days are over. I'm just over 65, so should be on a pension next December, so have no idea if I'll find another job. A disciplinary hearing against me won't help, despite the fact I did what I did to get work out of the door, despite us not being set-up to do such work, but altering company property is a serious action and my handling of the matter, (Iwas not very diplomatic, to say the least) didn't help, so no glowing references forthcoming. I have a private pension income, and that paid the necessary bills (insurance and tax etc), so I did not have to worry about that. Unfortunately, I lived off that income ,on top of UC, so had not insured the bikes for 14 months, and,as they were on private land were OK not taxed, so there is no chance of a payout. Due to current financial circumstances I can no longer afford to buy another bike, so I'm hanging up/selling all my mc gear,I don't realistically think I'll get them back. billysugger Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago Well, the police have been in touch. There is not enough evidence to investigate any further. Now officially billynobikes, I've had to make use of public transport, and what a mess. I can't believe the state of the pot-holed roads the buses run on,and my poor old bones have been battered to bits 3 Quote
