Guest Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Anyone know what the best winter gloves are, using my bike every day for a 60 mile round commute and have found that anytime I hit the motorway my hands just freeze up big time if its any colder than about 10 degs C.Have done tons of searching on the internet for battery operated heated gloves but can't seem to find anything, don't want to have to plug cables into the bike.Any advice much appreciated... Korben Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Moved to the clothing section for you mate. All sorts out there, and most of them work well.... finding some with good crash protection as well it's difficult. I am hoping to pick up some Alpinestar 365 Goretex ones at the Motorbike show next month. Quote

boot Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I've been looking at these...HELD 2570 Freezer Winter Motorcycle GloveandHeld 2872 Talin Winter Motorcycle GloveAnybody got these, tried these? Any advice from 3 finger glove wearers on how practical or not they are? I assume the idea is that there's less surface area to lose heat from, so they should offer better protection from the cold? techno Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) They work pretty well tim and are reasonably priced only draw back i find with winter gloves is trying toi keep the liners in when you remove them if your hands are sweating/wet!Oh and did here these are pretty good too!http://www.bikestop.co.uk/detail.php?id=1402 Edited November 3, 2008 by techno Quote
Guest akey Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 the ones posted by TimR are Hein Gericke Pathon, and they are fantastic winter gloves, waterproof, warm in fact the mutts nuts. I commute pretty much all year round and have a pair of these if they ever need replaceing then I will probably get another pair the same. Quote
Stu Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 i find it really hard to drive wearing winter gloves so i just put the heating on Quote
Guest Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I have a cheap Buffalo version of the HG Pathan and if anything, they are too warm for ordinary cold weather riding.Although I would like a pair of heated gloves which I will hopefully be able to afford at this year's NEC. Quote
bigsisterbiker Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 i've got pathan's and they are really good, even a bit too warm sometimes.take a bit of getting used to aswell but worth it Quote
pumilio Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Heated grips and a regular pair of non-heated but waterproof winter gloves would make all the difference for you. Quote
Guest Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I think I'll try the HG PATHAN I've seen others talk about them and for £40 it's a lot cheaper than a heated solution. Thanks all. Quote
Guest Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 For the benefit of anyone else looking into Winter Gloves i did buy the Hg Pathan gloves available from http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk or one of their shops and the're great - I no longer have cold hands. Didn't take any getting used to as you still have full freedom within the glove, they also have a nice long neck so go over your jacket nicely stopping any cold air making it's way into the glove and they have a mid glove velcro band as well as an end velcro band to make the glove secure. They are also a damn site cheaper than heated gloves. Have so far used them down to around 0 deg C and no probs yet. Quote
TC Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I did months of research and found out about these http://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/folder ... vel_black/They are a swedish company The gloves have got 4 layers and are fully waterproof I've found with these gloves £40 and Oxford heated grips £40 even riding over Glen Coe in a Blizzard was no problem.Ask anyone on here who has felt my hands after a ride if they are not good or not.The only downside is you have to be carefull taking them off as the layers tend to pull out, if you pinch each fingher though its not a problem.
