Guest
Because I'm doing my cbt soon and I don't have any + I'm gonna have to be riding to school in some shity school shoes that cost like £19.99 : Will this be a problem with the gears? Someone told me it hurt there feet without boots?
bigsisterbiker
you'll be doing your cbt on a ped right? not a geared bike? sturdy shoes or boots are usually recommended, but not trainers. it's all in case you come off. trainers = no protection at all.i did my cbt in a pair of caterpillars and was fine
Guest philgale
it would only hurt your feat if you fall off.....all gear isnt necessary unless you come off......i read a quote somewhere "dress for the fall not the ride"its up to you, i have rode in magnums before now but wouldnt ride in anything but proper bike boots now
Guest
If you are going to ride a geared bike then a strong upper/toecap is essential for gear changes.I have been to many bike accidents where the rider had trainers on and the damage to their feet was, to say the least. unsightly.Boots do not make you invulnerable to injury, but they do make those injuries less debilitating.Buy and wear good boots. pumilio
I did my cbt in a pair of walking boots, but soon found that I wanted a real pair of motorbike boots with decent armour and weather protection. They can be pricey, but are worth it...
Guest
you'll be doing your cbt on a ped right? not a geared bike? Nope, I'll be doing it on my brand new Generic Trigger X And at the moment all I have is a shity pair of Nike Air Max 90's.
bigsisterbiker
sorry mate! nice looking bike by the wayas parapanfan said - trainers are no good. apart from the injuries theres no reinforcement in the uppers so gears will be a bitch.borrow some boots off a mate? Guest
Change to strong boots ASAP.I took my CBT and first couple of lessons in service issue Magnums. I bought my first pair of bike boots from Hein Gericke over three years ago and they're still in regular service today. They weren't too expensive but I have kept them treated with Urad cream and they are still waterproof and comfortable - although I noticed the stitching was looking a wee bit frayed in places recently. Guest
Magnums are strong boots with a reinforced (not steel) toecap.Urad is a leather treatment which helps protect all leather goods, including boots and biking leathers.
bigsisterbiker
magnums are boots that a lot or armed forces use instead of standard ones. look like a combat boot but more comfy, better protection, etc.didn't know paramedics got issued them. nice one

Guest
Some boots do have a steel shank, but I don't think the Magnum range carries them.
Guest
Shank? lol round her people call knifes shanks...
Guest
That's because they watch silly American movies - the correct British term is "shiv".The shank is the bit that forms the shape and supports the arch of the foot.
