  1. fozzie if you click the link i put on you will notice that its a more complicated system then just the FI having an auto choke!! not all FI bikes are auto choke mines manual choke as are lot of other bikes i know its nothing to do with a stuck stat as it does it on cold start up which means the bike is as cold as it could be even with a stuck/working stat it cant cool it any colder then outside temp! If the bike wasnt warming up properly i would agree on the stuck stat
  2. have a read of this not sure if its any help!! http://gimpywhine.spaces.live.com/blog/ ... 5312.entry
  3. errr yes but its the only way to get it sorted if you dont want to take the time off then tell them to pick it up and deliver a bike to you the money it could cost you to sort it out could be more then taking time off work
  4. well its under warranty so book it back in and tell them you want a courtesy bike and you dont want it back till they have sorted it!!

    Water pump broken?

sounds like the stat is fine as it cuts the water feed to the rad and your rads getting hot as the fan takes the temp off the rad
  6. nice but....... ...wheres ya leg
  7. also screen bolts are made out of cheese your not the first and certainly wont be the last
  8. i would go for gummed up carbs as cobbz says theres not much that can go wrong on these bikes
  9. i doubt any filter will pic up all the particles with them been so small!!
  10. that is a helicoil http://www.helicoil.in/
  11. i crashed in RST gear and it stood up really well and i would buy it again
  12. Like you do? I seem to remember u telling me your clutch was a bit warped after a few hard starts previouse owner
  13. if its slipping then i would most probably be the friction plates check steel plates for warpage and measure springs to make sure they are in spec! Lesson of the day dont give it beans till the clutch is all the way out!
  14. have you turned the adjuster too much? it could have popped out the clutch leaver housing get some pics if you can
  15. sounds like you have water in somewhere and is shorting out a quick fix is to squirt with WD40 as it chases water out a proper job is to look for the water thats causing the short and seal the plug/conector/relay properly and smear some electrical grease on all connections too
  16. no worries i look at things like this: someone else might be looking for info and see this and think ooo i have a twin so only need one coil!! so best just to cover your ass and cover all bikes so no come backs unless you are been bike specific ie the GPZ has one coil and two leads

    Brake squeal...

thats pretty much spot on the only real worry is to make sure you dont pop the pistons out use a block of wood between the calipers to stop them coming all the way out if one does pop out you will need to bleed the full braking system on the front!!
  18. not on all twins!! mine has two separate coils as do a fair few other bikes i know of but i recon yours will have two with it been a low state of tune
  19. it all depends on time!! most bike shops wont helicoil they would take the head off and send it to someone else your best bet is a small bike shop that needs the work to keep going they will do the full job in house!! i would say about 4 hours work atleast depending on the setup of the bike ie cam chain and cams etc etc
  20. sounds like the thread has gone if so you will need to have it helicoiled

    connecting sat nav

if your planning on doing it from a switched source i would go for headlights as they are at the front of the bike as is the cradle so you will have less wire trailing about or just simply find any live feed when the ignition is on and tap in to that the earth can go anywhere like a bolt to the frame or something personally i wouldnt tap in to the loom as people turn their nose up and resale time i have gone to the battery which makes it easy to remove for other bikes

    connecting sat nav

sounds to me like he has a dedicated bike sat nav and the proper conectors so doesnt need a cig lighter socket!! my tomtom rider lead is conected straight to the battery it is designed for this purpose you could fit a fuse if you like you could also wire it up to the ignition so it only live with the ignition on the choice is yours
  23. could be a blocked breather on the petrol tank causing a vacuum and stopping fuel going through or if the fuel tap works off a vacuum it could have a split in it and not opening the tap properly

    Brake squeal...

build up of brake dust or brake pads moving against the piston clean calipers and smear some copper slip on the back of pads
  25. how much is the garage going to charge to fit it ? i bet i can under cut them
