  1. I wish The bike's all jacked up in the garage with the front end off still Still a bit chilly but it looks lovely out so if your lucky enough to get out ride safe and be careful
  2. I was thinking of going but the cost was one thing and I'm looking after my grandchildren which would cost a lot of money that I just haven't got. I was thinking of new leathers but with the cost of getting in and not too many deals looks like I've done the right thing I'll wait until I find some at a shop or interweb
  3. I wish, I wish, Got the front end off the bike with no brake fluid or callipers on at the moment. Although with a temp of 8-10deg's and a wind chill of about -2 I think I'm going to be tucked up indoors and sort the bike out in the warm You guys have a nice safe ride and be careful
  4. I'm not saying every driver is but I take it that every driver is a complete idiot and is going to make the most dangerous move The reason for that is quite simple, if they don't do it you can take it as a result So the consensus that you are your own biggest hazard would get my vote for that reason I know there are many different opinions and nearly all can be a hazard with justice but you are in control of yourself not everybody else and take it they will do the dumbest thing going and you'll stand a better chance of keeping out of trouble John
  5. If it's been stood for a while the fuel might have gone a bit sticky but the battery doesn't seem to be a lot of cop, if you could get a jump start and see what happens then. The first thing to do is check the voltage at the battery if possible both with everything off and when hitting the starter, the only way forward the would be to see if the battery will revive by a good overnight charge if not replace it. John
  6. I agree with the last post as a precaution it'll be worth the few quid rather than have plod stop you and keep it
  7. You could try one of these, going up on the wattage would give you more light especially if you get a extreme type of bulb as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H6M-YAMAHA-QU ... 0421815367
  8. I always give them a gemtle reminder wether blue badge or mother and child, the abuse you get in return is stagering though
  9. I've just tried to enlarge the sales pictures and it looks like a one piece, If it looks tidy and the rest or the exhaust looks OK weld it too get you out of trouble (the welt could end up the strogest part lol), once you've welded it then you'll have time to find a replacement John
  10. Plusgas leave, more Plus gas leave, then heat gun good whack as the previous post and attack
  11. A few years back three mates and I ran down to Dijon in one hit from Essex and a long weekend around the Alp's, TBH it was a slap even from here but needs must and all that but it was a fantastic four days. We just stayed in a budget hotel in Dijon and rode around from there so we had an hour or so ride before getting into the Alp's, never been into the camping thing so can't help on that but I'm sure there will be some help on that along shortly. John
  12. Sorry to hear that your neighbour is a tw@, what on earth can people like that gain ffs. I hope you get him sorted though. John
  13. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all
  14. To me it looks like there are two captive nut's just below centre of the headlight, I can only take it that's where the pod fixed to. use them two as the starting point and you can use your friend with the stainless to make a flat plate with a hole foe the new arrival, you can then either come off of them or two s shaped brackets dropping from the stainless face if you see what I'm getting at. John ps What area are you in and there may be someone nearby that can help out.
  15. I would go for headlight and indicator wire's in the new headlight and pull the rest under the tank as the others have said, if you do cut and wires try and solder and plastic shrink them which by the sound of it will be the most reliable parts on the bike lol. All the best John
  16. Very well thought out and such a great finish, how many lts would you say it hold's in total ? How does it hook on/off and how awkward or not is it to carry or is it based on bags to lift and carry once you get to where your going. Lot's of questions I know but with the same frame as your's you can imagine my interest, my wife and I manage with the top box, panniers and tank bag which even though the panniers are only 21 lts we do manage to cram quite a lot in. All the best John
  17. Well done for giving it a go (if it didn't quite join completely), I wish I could have made it but was not exactly in the best of health and it wasn't the night after either lol. Perhaps next year if they do it I'll try and make it then
  18. As the previous posts really The more protection the better for me though I'm not in very good health to start with now so don't like taking too many chance's I've got textiles and tbh I've probably worn them no more than half a dozen times (even on the hotter days we've had) I tend to just put the leathers on and suffer the heat and keep the vent's open, it's a long running argument as to do or don't but I do and would always advise people to wear suitable clothing. Please don't forget that independent testing proves it works and can save your skin (it's hard to pick it up from the tarmac), if you do have a spill not protected it will be a very hard lesson
  19. You need to brake them in really, there is a leather softener you can spray inside the boot, I only know this as I suffer with shoe's and boots being tight and if I didn't use it on some of them I'd have to chuck them. I got it from Clark's years ago so you don't need a bucket load
  20. I'm on my laptop now and have just sent a couple of quid
  21. I'm on the mobile at the minute but I'll see if I can make a small contribution, I don't make many posts or threads but do enjoy looking through this forum. Like many on here I'm on a few forums and tbh I'm slowly dropping some of them that members seem to do nothing but criticise riders or bikes that they don't favour, I haven't seen much of that sort of thing going on which is a breath of fresh air as far as I'm concerned. For that reason I'll do what I can but being skint pretty much all of the time doesn't help. John
  22. Stick a load of redex in the tank, get it into the carbs or injectors and then leave it to soak in as long as you can and hopefully give it a run it'll clear it.
  23. It's false of habit being polite lol, something these whippersnappers seem to have missed haha.
