  1. Normally I wouldn't quote The Guardian because it's a load of bourgeois crap, but someone pressed me to read this article the other day and while the relevance to this topic is limited, it was interesting to find out that so much of the factually inaccurate components of anti-EU sentiment were spread by Boris Johnson himself, long before the referendum became a hot topic. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/may/13/boris-johnson-donald-trump-post-truth-politician
  2. Yesterday's NOTD was some idiotic old codger who came off the A10/A14 roundabout in the middle lane (science park access) and after realising/deciding it wasn't the lane he wanted to be in, shifted to the left lane (city centre) without actually looking to see if anyone was already in it. Which is where I was. Twat.
  3. When is he joining us for a ride out..? He's with us on the 4th
  4. Not everyone's is as used to the pounding that yours gets
  5. Still better than Toms Bandit seat! True dat!
  6. But... but... ALL the best motorbike purchases are done on impulse No excuses Ricky... If I have to come and pick you up myself, I will! Disclaimer: the pillion seat on my bike is NOT designed to be functional in any way and the back of the subframe may snap off under heavy load
  7. I think that as a general rule of thumb you should never get a bike serviced by a place that also sells Chinese bikes. Really says something about how few f*cks they give I've taken my various bikes to four different places, and the two that sold Lexmoto or Sinnis on the side are the two that shafted me repeatedly when I didn't know any better, using the exact same approach of "guess the fault and charge you regardless".
  8. Bwahahahaha... Now HOW will I top last year's effort...?
  9. Awesome! That will be particularly handy!
  10. Of course! For one thing we'll almost certainly want to have a few people with big bikes riding along as a backup - stop and help people out when their bike blows up, and suchlike. And people to be impartial judges, potentially. If we do challenges in various locations then we could grab a few local members from each spot to judge them... I'll try to flesh out those sort of things too. If nowt else, I'm sure we'll do a bunch of evening meet ups as we go. Of course, the riders might be too busy patching up their bikes to grab a drink...
  11. DRAGONS DOGMAAAAAAAAAA Came out for Windows in January at long last, so Wikipedia tells me. Awesomely fun. If you have 3 years spare. Start a new game of Civ 5 Let me introduce you to a little game called Sins Of A Solar Empire. It's waaaay quicker, you should buy the whole collection on Steam and give it a go.

  13. Now you know! And knowing is half the battle. Just turn the bars all the way left then pop your key in the little lock I've circled. Of course, it might turn out that it needs a different key... I've heard that a lot of old CGs end up with a mix of different locks in different places. When I took mine for an MOT the bloke at the garage was amazed to see one that used the same key for the helmet lock, fuel cap, ignition, AND steering lock
  14. On my CG, I use a combination of the steering lock and one of these: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTQ2MlgxMjk3/z/fb0AAOSwBnVW-0Y1/$_35.JPG Yup, that's a bicycle lock All I wanted was something that would stop someone giving the bars a sharp twist to break the steering lock then pushing the bike away, so I run that through the wheel a few times. On a CG... well, nicking it is now officially more effort than it's worth
  15. Plus you can always snap up bikes at a better price once the weather starts to go south! I just took a peek on Gumtree and the prices have rocketed up since we were all looking at this a few months back. Gives my finances time to bounce back from the house purchase, too - I might be able to actually join it instead of just coming up with the rules and whatnot Of course, fair is fair - I won't be allowed to win, I'll just be doing it for the lulz (Not that my winning is a valid concern anyway, my bike will blatantly be a death trap)
  16. Strategy, yo! I play by the rules but that don't mean I play nice
  17. Beat the Elite Four at last! Used a new strategy: smash into them with everything I've got then switch in a pure tank just after the half way mark. Spam defense boosting moves with some passive healing going on in the background, and once I'm healing faster than I'm taking damage, start healing the rest of the team back up to full health. After that, oh dear what now... enemy has set up on my tank, anything I switch in will die instantly and my tank can't die to give me a free switch because it's too tough. Oh yeah... this is why I brought EXPLOSION as my 4th move
  18. I was meant to post an update in here over the weekend but spent the whole time mucking around with my bike and forgot I've been crazy busy lately, between trying to buy a house and some big stuff happening at work - so I haven't given this the push that I'd hoped to. So to echo what tuktuk said: Is anyone still serious about giving this a go? I know that a lot of the early interest fizzled out when people suddenly realised that it might actually happen and they would have to spend real money instead of imaginary stuff If need be I can put it on hold for the time being and try to come up with some slightly more forgiving rules, or we can just give up in nobody is that fussed any more As one option, we could always change the time frame so that people have to build up the bike in the winter and we do the ride in the spring/summer next year? Saves anyone losing valuable riding time in the summer, and gives everyone something to keep themselves out of trouble in the winter...
  19. I don't get much gaming time, so I try to stick to games that you can pick up and put down again easily. Dragons Dogma (Everfall & Bitterblack) when I'm at home, Pokemon Ruby on my phone when I'm on a train or at work. Experimented with a different team in Dogma last night, went exceedingly well. Previously used three melee characters and a support mage, now dropped a melee and added a second mage with high power damage spells. Pokemon... not so good. I've reached the Elite Four and realised that I somehow managed to build an entire team that can't take down dragons, and forgotten to include a special sweeper that I could teach ice beam in order to tear through them quickly. Tried setting up on them then tanking through it, but they have solid counters to both of my tanks. Darnit.
  20. These would fit perfectly on my side panels... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Badger-animals-nature-stickers-car-van-bumper-window-decal-5276-Black-/301714744863?hash=item463f99a61f:g:5RcAAOSwd0BV0Irh Now if I can only find a Badger puppet, I could cable tie its head to the top of my mudguard
  21. RIGHT that's it. I was thinking yesterday about how my bike still doesn't have a name, and this settles it. My bike will henceforth be known as Badger. Time to buy some decals.
  22. If the Out vote wins, at the absolute longest I would assume they'll have it done and dusted in time for the run up to the next general election. If they don't, all the folks that voted to leave will be mighty pissed off with the Conservatives, and crazy Corbyn might have a chance after all...
