  1. Worst week to pick. Boss onholiday so I've got to do 6 days in, but may get out over bank holiday if weather decent and I do all the odd jobs for the wife on Sunday bring her breakfast in bed cook the dinner and generally be a good boy.
  2. Had a nice ride down to CMC today, marred only by the road works right outside causing long delays for the last half mile! Hundreds there, special well done to the girls in the cafe inside just the usual fry up food but half the queue compared to the van outside served quickly with a smile no drama and a reasonable price not the usual get screwed or starve at these events.

    Mobile phones.

The only time I take insurance out is if I cannot afford to risk the loss, eg house and work cover, or when its compulsory, ie bike and car. Washing machines/phones/telly etc all a con to make money for the insurance company.

    Dating....

I was on match.com. I dated at least once usually twice every weekend for about 5 months, and turned down lots more I just couldn't fit in. I was then an overweight early 50's baldy in a middle of the road occupation and seriously bad romantic history. I only went on a second date with one woman, knew the first time I could get serious over this one. That is nearly 7 years ago and married 2 1/2 yrs now. My 3rd time around so never give up, you'll know when you meet the right one.
  5. Well if we go I'm in front of you!
  6. i'm in if the weathers OK, off Thurs Fri Sund and Monday. Bike in bits at the moment but hope to have it sorted by next weekend.
  7. Sad day for all us T-Bird fans, Sylvia Anderson passed today, was used as inspiration for Lady Penelope and voiced her throusg all series.
  8. My PR3's are just about done as they are squaring off now, done about 13K on them, mainly motorway. Bike felt much better when I got them although getting more skittish over bumps and road surface joins, tramlining is more marked now. Will probably go for PR3 or 4 over next couple of months.
  9. I am glad to see this. My satnav has gone walkabout somehow, I suspect when I had the car cleaned at a supermarket, but only used it occasionally and it was nearly 3 months since last used that I realised it was missing. I am intending to replace my blackberry with a smartphone soon and want to download a satnav app then. Thanks for the info, only saw the post tonight.
  10. I've called them heel plates, the panels on the side of the bike that both sets of pegs are fixed to. There were already marks from constant contact with my boot heels, and although the panels appear to be solid metal - I thought alloy like the wheels - the surface coat has come off where its been rubbed by my boot and along the top of the piece they are both corroding and the top coat of whatever, paint?, is all bubbling up. Its a 2008 BMW by the way. Does anyone know what these pieces are made of, and what the best plan is for treating the corrosion.
  11. My son is getting the ball and chain fitted in June, in Athens as shes from there and its the whole Big Fat Greek Wedding thing. Thats not the point of this, last night they were here discussing a hotel they had thought of using for their first night of wedded bliss, but which had been phenomenally expensive, rooms STARTING at £300/ night up to £1000 +. My ball and chain had a nosy at it on the internet, just to see how the rest of the world lives, and this morning she got an e-mail from them offering a special deal. Why worry about the government etc tracking our computer use when commercial organisations already are?
  12. Are you doing any work today?
  13. Count me in. J20 is the M56 interchange outside Warrington isn't it? I'm in Stockport so very handy. Macdonalds just there a good meeting spot I would say.
  14. Oh Dear. Mine was distinctly sluggish to start yesterday, first time for about six weeks. I took it off the charger about a month ago as my stepson needed to borrow the charger and never got round to putting it back on afterwards. Got me to work and started to get me home again but still not sounding as lively as it should. Put it back on charge last night so should be OK by now. Sunday ride out? Meet up in Buxton? Cat and Fiddle closed last I heard but must be another cafe in Buxton.
  15. You're right, if they want it they'll get it. No experience with the products you've mentioned, but personally if it has to be in front of the house I'd go for two ground anchors, back and front, or better still rear wheel and main frame. Disc locks are a deterrent but a front wheel comes off too easily, and pro's will just lift the bike into a van and worry about a disc lock later.
  16. Sorry to respond so late, was just having a last minute check before bed and saw the thread. I'm a pharmacist, antibiotics should start working around 48 hrs after starting the course, which should have been Saturday morning. Difficulty breathing is a major escalation and you should definately seek further help. As a minimum, phone the NHS 111, but if you're still havingb trouble breathing now (its a couple of hours since the last entry), I'd say get to A&E, the antibiotics aren't working, you may just need different antibiotics because you have a resistant infection. You'll struggle to get into your docs tomorrow am anyway so the position will be no better and you may well be worse by then.
  17. Theres a place near Lymm by the canal that will do it, they mainly work on boats but will do anything.
  18. Lots of us have to work Saturdays, cant we meet on the Sunday? Yes I know some will be working Sunday, but certainly less than Saturday.
  19. Personally I'd consider involving the police as it sounds like fraud to me, and notify the DVLA that the bike was with a dealership and you have not been notified by them that it has been sold and that you have not been paid and you should find the change of registered keeper will be voided and you will be able to reclaim the bike. The new "owner" will then have to claim against the dealership which sold him a bike they didn't own. I am assuming you didn't sign the V5 to the dealer or anything daft like that.
  20. Worst pressie in 2013 was a Xmas tie that lights up and plays jingle bells. Worst pressie in 2014 was a Xmas Tie that lights up and plays jingle bells. Worst pressie in 2015 was a Xmas tie that lights up and plays jingle bells. I'm thinking of opening a second hand Xmas tie shop. Mind you last nights party seemed to go OK. Showing last guests out and found the this morning's milk on the doorstop already. Even the dog slept until nearly 11am.
  21. Merry Xmas to all as I sit here surrounded by piles of wrapping paper and dodgy gifts. The dog lies content at my feet having just trumped while I gasp for breath in the fog of his expulsions. Tomorrow will be worse as he snaffled some chips and curried sauce while out this morning before I could pull him off. Anyone wants to adopt a dog for a couple of days just PM me.
  22. Absolutely agree with TC and others. By all means go for a direct access but go with a school over several weeks. My instructor started me on 125 and I wasn't allowed on the 500 until HE thought I was ready. I bought a cheap chinese bike in a box to practise on for about 3 months and flogged it for a loss of £50 when I passed my test. The instructor also wouldn't take me to the test until he thought fit. Also got nagged into some post test further training with him, has kept me right side up most of the time. I think the crash courses over 3-4 days are just that - courses to crash by. You might learn to pass the test but you cannot learn the bike control adequately in that time, nor the general roadcraft if you're not already a driver. Its similar to the diving courses. I am an advanced diver, but I have dived with other divers who qualified in 1-2 days , usually with PADI, and have had to bring them up on my air when they got into trouble purely through inexperience. With PADI, you are taught the important stuff, then have to demonstrate in a pool that you can perform the safety routines, then go through them again in open water, but in controlled conditions, and you've passed. I trained with NAUI, and you have to have a minimum of 6 pool sessions, most of the time spent repeating the safety procedures again and again, so they become 2nd nature, because at 20 meters down you've only got seconds to recover if something goes wrong, and panic kills. Then comes 2 open water sessions before your test and you can get certified. BSAC are even stricter, can take up to 6 months I believe, but most divers would equate a basic BSAC qualification to better than a PADI advanced. Sorry a bit off topic but some valid comparisons
  23. Just back. About 25 bike escort, mainly seemed to be from a couple of local clubs. Hearse was a bike trailer towed by trike. One of funeral directors rode pillion on the trike in his long formal coat with helmet on! Crem was full with overspill in foyer/hall with cctv screens. Left after crem service, photos of bikes were taken at request of family, may appear on here I suppose. Weather was shit, especially over M62. Hope its a long tiem before I go on another ride like that. RIP Aaron.
  24. Hope to be there, waiting to hear from boss about changing day off but shes usually ok, did TC say he was going from Stockport too? Dont know area at all but its only about 45 mins for me.
