  1. Thanks guys. I appreciate all of your suggestions and idea's. I might even swop the shih tzu in for one of those akita's ... confession, I had to google it
  2. I understand that, polecat, but I am thinking if they want it I'll make the bar stuards work for it!
  3. Hmmm ... I have a back garden and a shih zhu, will that work, littlecat?
  4. Not sure if this is the best place for this but, I have a question. What is the best way to secure your bike and prevent it from being nicked? I don't have anything yet and I am just getting an idea of what is available and possible. So assuming that my pride and joy arrives with no mobiliser or alarm, what are the options for fitting aftermarket devices and are they worth it? I mean, can they easily be overridden or disabled? Secondly, what about locks and chains. What is the best option? I was thinking of cementing a U-shaped piece of iron into a solid side wall and using a decent sized chain to chain the bike to it. Any other options that might be equally as effective?
  5. Sometimes, karma is a bitch but mostly, karma is very well placed!
  6. Threads like this show my true age; about 10 TMBF = 'Try My Butterscotch Farts'
  7. Haha ... I'll get one. It's money issues at the moment ... soon as things ease up, the bike will be bought!
  8. lol ... she is scared of bikes. Hates the thought of me being on one.
  9. I like your thinking Tango. Unfortunately ONE bike shop got moans ... I'll just have to wait. I wonder if Moo would share her Freddo's with me? lol
  10. Since passing my mod 2 I have been dreaming about buying a bike. Almost every night, I dream about ZZR600 or thundercat. Last night I didn't dream and was quite disappointed. The wife woke up this morning moaning at me because she couldn't close her eyes without dreaming about my bike! What bike did she dream of ... lol a Kawasaki 404ZR! What the fook is that I asked? One that your not getting she replied. Safe to say, she knows nothing about bikes!
  11. Archeologists have just uncovered the first lesbian dinosaur. They have named it Licalotopuss. Next to her was the first gay dinosaur: Megasorass.

    Bye everyone.

I can't argue with any of that!
  13. I am not an experienced rider but I am a very experienced driver and I can assure you that your cautious approach to lane changing and overtaking is not unusual for a beginner. It is a worrying thought to have to put yourself in the path of another vehicle coming up behind you. My advice is take your time. It takes time to be able to judge the speed of approaching traffic when you are able to look directly at them; it is even more difficult when you only have the reflection in your mirror to work with. Use your mirrors often and you will be able to see how long it takes a vehicle to reach and overtake you. You will start with very crude judgements at first. The vehicle is either getting closer to you or moving further away then how fast is it approaching you or moving away. Take your time and try not to worry. If you are really that nervous about changing lanes I suggest you book an hour or two with a school and ask for lots of lane changing practice. As for moving back in; that comes with practice too! hope this helps.
  14. Exactly why flashing of headlights should be punishable by hanging from the testicles until very, very sorry! It is dangerous not being kind. Slow down and allow them to make up their own damned mind ... safer for all then.
  15. Agreed Not that you are generalizing then No I am not generalising, or at least not intentionally generalising, but it is the 'general' attitude of cyclist. You are getting angry/frustration or whatever because you think that I am saying YOU do not follow the rules of the road. In fact I have made it clear that it matters not what you ride/drive, if you do not follow the basic rules of the road you are putting others in danger and that is not acceptable. Anyone who condones such disregard for the rules of the road will be tarred with the same brush. As a matter of fact, I applaud the cyclist who stops at red lights, or the car who gives consideration for a bike filtering or that bus driver (although this is rare) who waits until it is safe to move off from a bus stop. Only you know which category you fall in!
  16. Pretty neat! There are some awesome 3D tatt's around. Looks good on other people but I don't think that I would want to cough up the £100's for this sort of thing.
  17. Better still, ban motorised vehicles! The government would lose billions of tax pounds and you will be paying more tax than you thought possible. It is a simple fact that cyclist injuries would dramatically reduce if ALL cyclists followed the highway code and did what they are supposed to do! (STOP at red lights, give way when required to even ride in the same fecking direction as other traffic would be a start!) Cyclists are dying because, like taxi drivers and bus drivers, they believe they have the monopoly on the road! I am not against cyclists ... I am against any road user who thinks the rules don't apply to them!
  18. It's alright for some ... have fun mate, and Mrs TC
  19. Many years ago when I was in the Royal Air Force, my commanding officer used to say: 'Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men'. I still hold to that but as you said, if I turn into a street with a 20 mph speed limit which many of the roads in Bristol are now, and choose to go 30 mph, I would accept that I am breaking the law and would not argue against the fine. There are ways of changing laws without ganging together and blatantly breaking them just because we disagree with them. I too have seen the police breaking laws but that still doesn't make it right. We all break the law practically every time we get onto our bikes or in our cars. I am not in anyway suggesting that I don't ... I am saying if I chose to ignore the law then I should be prepared to pay the price. Many years ago I got a speeding ticket for going 42 mph in a 30 mph area. Caught on camera on an empty, straight road as wide as an airport runway. I was seriously pissed off about it but ... as much as I thought it was stupid, I broke the law and had to take the points and fine!
  20. Hmmm ... I would have thought that s/he would have been there for the duration.
  21. I think I am missing something here mate. What do you mean kicked out, Techno?
  22. I agree Techno but our job is to obey the law not break it just because we don't agree.
  23. The lining is sort of mesh type thing and it is non sticky! They are comfortable enough when sitting just makes my legs look unnaturally deformed when I walk. They feel OK, just looks ... well, weird!
  24. Ok, so here is another weird question for you all. I have recently bought textile motorbike Reissa Waterproof CE Armoured jacket and trousers. The jacket is fantastic, apart from too hot! Now that is another story - lol. I took my mod 1 with my new bike gear and proudly wore it during the wonderfully hot July sun and by the end of the day the sweat was literally running down my back and my legs. I couldn't wait until my instructor said we had finished with the bikes so that I could get the jacket off. She, my instructor, burst out laughing and said no wonder I was so hot. I had left the winter lining in both jacket and trousers! lol Anyway, back to the question. The jacket is great. Very comfortable if not too hot, even with the winter lining out now. The trousers though feel really weird. The armour plating for my knee's cover my shins when I walk, although they rise to my knee's when sat on the bike. It feels like I have two broken legs till I sit down. Is this the experience everyone has or are my trouswers a bit weird, or maybe I am a bit weird? Interested to hear your thoughts.
  25. I've heard a lot of people say this. Pity that they are not available for non offenders!
