  1. I can't see why he wouldn't like aluminium - the calipers are ali anyway so aslong as the spacers are a snug fit then they'll be dandy. You'd have to go some to shear an 8mm HT bolt... What was the reason he gave?
  2. Hey Phooooo. If you don't have any luck turning up some bolts, I had some spacers machined from stainless for exactly that purpose for my track bike. Since I've yet to find any calipers that aren't shagged beyond repair and the probability of some turning up are minimal, they are going spare: http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx246/Mr_Fro/Spacer.png Let me know if they'd fit and I'll have a rummage about - they'd be yours for a mere £6 billion.
  3. The main area is between 2 and 3 - you can sling it quite wide between them and carry a bit more speed. I don't blame you for going central on the mountain, I wouldn't want to hit that anything other than dead square!
  4. Looks like an awesome day! I'm super jealous because I'm on a temporary ban. My constructive criticism is similar to FQ - don't be afraid to hang off a bit more and wrap yourself round the inside of the bike - your outside arm and leg should give you good anchorage against the tank and whatnot. Setting yourself up a bit before the corner always helps knock time off as it gives more time to relax in to the corner. It looks like you're trying to push hard to bring your time down and I'm guessing you weren't that relaxed. I don't know about anyone else but I get that way when I'm desperately trying to make gains and 9 times out of 10 I'm actually slower because of it! I try to relax and enjoy the corners rather than hammer it round which makes the times tumble. Technique wise, I'd say you were a bit snatchy on the throttle on some corners but then I can't see the traffic. You tend to down throttle, shift down and slip the clutch quite quickly on the run up to a corner - blipping the throttle/clutchless shifting will help smooth things out and give you a more stable platform. Smoothness = Gains! Finally, you're only using about half the track half the time - don't be afraid to run a bit wider - especially turns 1 and 2. Extra finally, we should sort a day out - friendly competition always helps!
  5. How do you put it on? Sounds silly but if you just shove it straight down on your noggin you can easily get ear interference. Have you tried putting you face in first? I stick my head in with the chin bar by my nose and rotate it backwards as it goes on so it sips over the front bits of my ears rather than bashing the top. Did any of that make sense?

    oil in exhaust

Auto choke? Don't like the sound of that! Any chance you can disable/remove it to see if that's the issue?
  7. Made me think of the interview for my current job Fozz - same sort of thing with a group "thought exercise" about some people trapped in a mine filling with water - one of those "who to save" type jobbies. I gave my opinion at the beginning and zoned out for the next half hour. My decisive nature was noted on my feedback - they clearly didn't notice that I was bored and couldn't be arsed. Horses for courses for interviews I think - people joining an organisation that require certain skills need to prove they have said skills and that they're a good team fit - stuff like service, retail and such just need to demonstrate they're willing to learn, straight up and not rob you blind. When I was running retail stores, the best candidates were those who came in, asked for a job and passed the personality test - it all went to bollocks when HR decided they wanted to centralise recruitment.
  8. *Other jars are available*
  9. Oddly enough, now I live out in the sticks, the only 4x4s I see out here are smeared with mud and driven by agricultural types as they should be. I haven't seen a white Evoke within 5 miles.
  10. Oh yeah. Bad boy Lumor for making me make myself look like a dick.
  11. Only when they're munters or clog up the place.

    oil in exhaust

If it stank of 2-stroke oil then yes, probably.
  13. Why have you posted this again?
  14. Sounds like conspiracy fodder. You could have some real fun there.
  15. Give 'em a clean and try a G-clamp or get something between the old pads to push them apart.
  16. Hey dudes, Got an email for this from MSV today for this - it's only £55 for a quality day including some track time. There are a few people on here that went to the last one and had only good things to say. http://www.msvtrackdays.com/bike/calendar/2015/july/22-bh-kfrs.aspx Cheers, Fro
  17. I've had to take the OH's turdbox in for a service and MOT today so I'll not be there.
  18. What phone is it? My bet is that your phone thinks it's charging at USB rate (as of your computer) check this by looking at the charging info on the phone. You can either spend cash on another lead and/or charger or stick a tiny bit of foil over the inner two contacts on the bigger end of your USB cable. Your phone will recognise this as AC charging (as from a wall socket) and allow a higher charging current draw.
  19. Sorry, where was it stored? The bottom of a canal? That's a hefty old project bud - be interesting to see what you make of it!
  20. If you can get the old bolts out cleanly then you should just be able to run a tap down the old threads to clean them up a bit.
  21. Those were the days!
  22. Hmm... Yeah, plug, fuel off out and kick it until it clears. A flooding carb shouldn hydrolock a 2-stroke that quickly unless you've got the worlds worst leak as the fuel vapour goes via the crank case (unless your crank is full or petrol/oil/water etc). If the problem persists, I'd be tempted to drain off the crank and go from there.
  23. Aye, have fun people of motorbike land. It's a shame to miss it again but I'm looking forward to the media coverage.
  24. Aaaaaaaaaaa-hahahahahahaaaaaaa! That must have been a rough night with the stench of your honk wafting in the tent. Cheers Ollie, made my day.
  25. Pick up/points/condenser and earth are where I'd look next.
