  1. A place that sells cloth, thread, buttons and all that stuff.
  2. I used leather thread on my gloves last year when they started falling apart and they're still good. Only cost a couple of quid from a haberdashers. For the hole, how about one of those iron on patches that mums used to use when the kids made holes in their jeans? Few stitches round the outside to make sure and bobs yer uncle.
  3. It's only got a little compressor mic held in place by a plastic clip. If you take the front bit off the cam you can move it away from the hole slightly as it's attached to the circuit board by a couple of wires.
  4. My nomination goes to the 7 year old lad on his baby blue scootipuff yesterday afternoon on the a1303. He was sitting in a layby and watched me drive towards him in my car, waiting for the moment when it would be most perilous to pull out, then gunned his mighty machine to it's top speed of 20 odd mph on a stretch of 50 road whilst going up hill. My spidy senses had already made me slow down a bit before hand but I still had to throw out the anchors to avoid splattering him all over the road. It's not like there was anything behind me so the cock weevil could have bloody waited 10 seconds for me to pass.
  5. I need a new rear on my track bike because it's got some nasty looking cracks in the side wall. Only problem is that my chosen tyre is out of stock in the UK but there is stock of a greater aspect ratio. My standard tyre is 180/55R17 and the available one is 180/60R17. So far as I can see, this would add ~9mm ride height which I can compensate for with the suspension and would effectively up-gear the bike a bit but only ~ 3%. Am I a nugget for entertaining this? Has anyone else done something similar and what was the effect? Cheers, Fro
  6. That's it matey, you're done for. Start apologising to your OH for spending all your spare time and cash on track.
  7. Sorry to hijack... Would the track not come with insurance thrown in with the personnel, support etc (I have not idea)? How about a TMBF session? I've been to a few track days where they have an MG, Lotus or whatnot owners club session.
  8. 10k. 75ish people. ~£135 each. I wouldn't mind paying that for a track day with you lot. Stick in overnight camping and it'd be a right old hoot!

    Engine Coolants?

I was looking at this for the girlies car but it worked out at ~£200 with the flushing stuff so I binned the idea. It's highly recommended by Lotus for the K-series engine which has shit cooling. Works out pretty economical if you're doing a couple of bikes.
  10. Is that with No Limits? I've just seen Rockingham is only £69 for 30th June. Bargainous! Going to see if I can get the day off work.

    torque wrench

I use the mk1 calibrated arm.
  12. Erm... Give them a good going over with carb cleaner and a toothbrush on the outside before opening them up to avoid getting extra crap in there. Do one at a time so as not to get needles and jets mixed up. Be gentle when removing/installing jets and tubes as it's easy to strip the threads. Watch out you don't put a screwdriver through a diaphragm if you have them. Check the intake rubbers for cracks and splits while you're there. If you've got the OEM specs for the idle screws, needle shims etc then use them when reassembling. Have a brew on standby.
  13. Same here! It was easy back in them days.
  14. It's positive live to the coils with a trigger from the ECU. Turns out I'm losing 1.4v at the coils so I'll rig something up for it next week.
  15. Dirty air filter maybe? How much fuel are you putting in, what is your tank volume and what is your theoretical reserve? Could be that your fuel level sensor is on the wonk.
  16. Good info - nice to hear of a chain oiler that's not a scottoiler! Have you got a link?
  17. I'm going back to Snet! (again ) £95 with No limits - all groups available at this time.
  18. Very good points chaps - didn't think of that! The shims should be with me today so I'll test the voltage this eve. I double checked the coils and the primary readings were a little high but only 0.6 Ohm over spec so probably not that bad... What do you reckon if the voltage is a bit low? Straight from the battery via a relay using the OEM feed as a trigger?

    rearsets

How big are your feet chummy?! I've got 13s and have never had any troubles on any bikes.
  20. I'd really like an Abba stand but my cheapie paddock stand will do the job for now. There's plenty of ingenious ways to lift your bike if you're willing to use your imagination - I've still got a stand I made years ago out of 2x4 wood which I still use. Don't suppose there are any members out your way who could sort you out some Halfords tools at a good price are there...?
  21. That's why I get helmet and leather cover in my insurance...
  22. I'm sure everyone in my village will love me as I come thundering through the high street at 7am at 30 in 3rd/2nd with my silly exhaust on.
  23. That's a healthy helmet budget! You'll be able to get last year's top draw lid for that - I picked up a Shoei X-Spirit II recently for 400 nicker, down from 630. For hand protection, I highly rate the Racer High Racer gloves. It's what I have - super comfy, great protection (I tried that it out ) and not too hot in the summer. The last set I had lasted me 8 years so for 130 they're pretty good value for money. The Knoxx Handroid look pretty good too but they didn't fit my freaky hands too well. Fitting is subjective - see if you can get somewhere with a decent selection and try a load of stuff on . Have fun!
  24. That registration is coming up as no trace on dvla database.
