  1. One of my proudest achievements in life is having an entry in Roger's Profanosaurus. I still like this though: http://viz.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Tutankhamen.jpg
  2. Great news. Can you still do us the picture of the donkey on a bucket though please?
  3. That looks a bit clean to just have been hanging about. It might come to you later. I once rebuilt a cavalier engine (after blowing it up) and wondered why it would start and rev it but it wouldn't idle. Just as I was getting some kip I realised I left a vacuum hose off the manifold. Popped it on in the morning and it ran like a champ.
  4. I've read the same thing speedy - quite a few people avoid sugar all together and stick two tins of jollop in.
  5. No.
  6. Not yet, I've been frantically trying to finish up my uni work for the year. I'm going to get a brew on in readiness for son's birthday in August so I'll have to get cracking soon. I read a really good homebrew book - How to Brew by John Palmer. It's available as a free PDF and is definitely worth a read.
  7. Was his name Phil?
  8. Alright Mark. Good to see you back! I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune but don't worry, we all still love you even though you've got a hog. Let me know when you're planning on expanding in to Suffolk as I'd like to submit my CV for the role: "somewhat perplexed lab manager/ditherer". It is my understanding that all good scientific companies must employ someone who asks rather too obvious questions in presentations and who's purpose is not readily apparent.
  9. Hi TB. I've had a few niggles with the visor on my Shoei too. When I got it the visor wouldn't quite close right so I got a whistle at speed. If you lift the visor you can slacken the hinge screws and move them a bit to make it fit better. It takes a bit of trial and error to get it right but is doable if you've got the patience. Same thing with the pinlock - just keep adjusting it until you can see the seal is touching the visor all the way round. For the wind noise coming underneath, did the Qwest have a neck guard thing? It looks like a tiny bib - they can help.
  10. Alright, alright. Settle down with the wise cracks about my colossal bulk. I'm a 32 waist, 34 leg. I think the old ones were a bit oversized so I could layer up in the cold - can't find any labels on them though.
  11. See pic. Dunno how it happened, I just noticed a bit of a breeze across my cheeks as I was leaving uni. They're a pair of RST leather/textile mix and to be fair they are 14 years old. Anyway, now I'm in pressing need of a new set of touring, waterproof type jeans. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm after something black and am not too keen on the "adventure" style as I can see the pockets snagging on something in the case of a spill. Cheers, Fro
  12. I'm with speedy - nothing wrong with plastic bottles. In "developing countries" that's pretty much all there is to carry fuel in. Okay, they do have the potential to be a bit explodey in the right circumstances but if you're going OG then you've got to do it right blud.
  13. I welded up a top box rack on my CG the other week. Didn't disconnect anything - just made sure I had a good earth right near the weld joints. If you want to be sure just unplug anything sensitive.
  14. Don't be put off by the size of it (arf), they pull a good vacuum and will easily do a bike system. I rigged mine to a 2l bottle and used it to drain parts of my old central heating system - no sweat. Top tip though - stick a bit of oil on the rod as it rubs on the frame.
  15. Think I lasted 5 mins once, Never again. I saw an episode of one of his shows - I think it was called "Henry Cole Whinges Across America" or at least should have been.
  16. How much did you stick in? I doubt it'd make much difference as it's naptha based.

I'd be too busy doing expensive stuff and shagging as many groupies as possible before my fame faded. I'm indifferent to his music - not really my kind of thing but then I'm not trendy.
  18. Hanging as in takes a while to settle back to idle after a rev? Like Stu says - that'll be a lean condition like an air leak or a screw out if adjustment.
  19. I'd give it a look if it weren't for Cole.
  20. Get one-off the hand operated ones - about £10-15. They come in a red box - can't miss them on a google search.
  21. It's always the same - you positively know you've got every tool you could possibly need until you're an hour in to a job and find the one fitting you don't have a tool for. If it makes you feel any better, I got caught out by the 9mm hex on my V40 calipers and the spline bits needed to take the hub off.
  22. Before you totally chateau your pants and rip it all apart again, are you sure the gauge is reading correctly?
  23. Result. The crank pick up is under the left hand engine cover - it's the little black box on the left in this pic: What year are the clocks you used? I'm tempted to get a set to replace the Chinesetastic one's I'm currently using.
  24. The reason I say about the rev counter is that it doesn't sound like it's doing what's being displayed. If it is then it's all gravy - you'll find out when you take it up the road, if it says you're pulling 15k then you may have to fiddle. I did a clocks swap on my project and found that I got spurious readings when taking from the coils and tapping directly in to the crank pick-up sorted it. A good tip with scabby wiring is to dip the end in flux before soldering (plumbers flux works well).
  25. Looks good. You might have to fiddle about with the resistance of the fuel sender to get the gauge to read correctly. For the rev counter - check where the signal is coming from - you might need to tap directly in to the pickup wire to get it to read right depending where the CBR gets it's signal from.
