  1. HA! I've seen murderers get less... Why dont they bring hanging back just for bikers then, given they are putting the whole thing in a noose anyway!

    Engine mounts...

If the mount snapped wouldnt welding it mean it will snap quicker next time? A new mount or making one up that works would be a good option though
  3. Nah you need to chase down a fat un with more meat on him Trish )Gareths wife) Not your Trish mate I know! I was mocking the grammar as it looks like you want his wife to cook Gareth and he would be the dinner! Thats the weekend before my birthday so I will have to see what plans are as im due to see the parents around then and they are northern so might be able to come along
  4. But my theory supports yours if you think about it, you get caught at 10pm... No workforce so it isnt dangerous so you get a fine. Do it in the day when the work force are present and you get points and a fine. Im not saying change the system so its revenue based, im just asking for a bit of common sense to determine when you get a fine for speeding and when you get both.
  5. No points for speeding, just a £60 fine... If they repeat offend constantly then add in points as some rich arse will gladly pay the speeding toll. So caught twice in a week and you can get points. If dangerous driving is involved then 3 points No insurance will be a 1 month ban at least and 6 points, same no license holders, missing tax wont get bothered with if its only a month out of date... But it would mean no more speed cameras as i bet revenue would go up if it was American like with police pulling up and measuring speed.
  6. In the case of the Vanvan I have only seen one or 2 around London and manchester but if you say theres owners club then theres a good chance that detail is wrong. But I genuinely havent seen any and i see a great deal of other 125s in this thread every day so thanks for the pointer. It will be edited. Am working on adding a couple of bikes now, the Derbi Terra, the Daelim 125 and trying to devise a warning notice for chinese bikes. Which are good and which are bad, how to tell etc.

  8. Under the main seat or pillion seat, clear as day and labelled "Oil" in some cases
  9. Set it back to how it was is deffo the best course of action to pursue here! If youve recently modded it, think of everything you did to do with fuelling and set it back and check it.
  10. His bike isn't fuel injected, its carbed so not a lot under load! Id just get s rec/reg off ebay, swap it over and see if it does the trick. Cleaning connections as i went around the bike so it operated correctly.
  11. Isnt your bike a 1994 model? I knew a bloke who had one and it started having quite a number of problems at 70,000 miles similar to yours so I dont think you are alone. Though he bought a second hand scrap on that was quite new and completely restored his. Why dont you move up a bike? Get something like a Kawasaki ER6F like I have, 650cc inline twin. Cheap insurance and 0% finance if you go for a new one.
  12. Little engine pulling about 200kg with a rider on it. I judders as it would rather stall and is because it's struggling. More throttle on start ups with higher revs will help. Just find the balance where it stops juddering and problem solved. My er650f judders in first with revs below 2000rpm on setting off, but it's a choppy inline twin anyway so it judders anyway.

    outer forks

Photograph and show us which bit you mean by outer forks. As some bikes bikes have fork covers, in which case do what you see fit to them. Though if it's just for cosmetic and has nothing to do spend a day taking them apart and respray the right bits and then put em back together
  14. If you can, magnetic sump plug ftw!
  15. I made a slight error, the clicking tells me the relay is working, the solenoid is most likely to blame as arcing destroys the contacts. Clean up the connections and get a new one in.
  16. Can you bypass the solenoid to check? Pair of pliers to make a connection over the contacts will do. If it fires up easily then, look at your battery. The starter motor being clogged up could just have been a provoking factor meaning a weak battery couldn't push it round and overcome it. The rapid clicking tells me the solenoid is working so more likely to be the battery unless the connections at the solenoid are rubbish. I wouldn't think the starter motor is the cause if it was serviced recently unless the unit has broken down rather than clog up.
  17. Sounds like the clutch is doing out too fast, the engine is losing too much speed and wants to stall. If you do this and give too much throttle a 125 will judder like a nutter. Race start the little thing, 8000rpm on a warm engine, smoothly let out the clutch without letting the revs dip below 5000rpm. Does it judder then?
  18. If its just a mixture problem then thats an easy fix without the need to rejet the carb. Have a play with different settings and check each time against the plugs after a few miles. Get a video up of it running at some point, i want to see it in action
  19. 5 pages! I wonder if thats a new record
  20. I've never had one that came not greased so I reckon you will be ok! If your hands feel greasy and you feel the need to wash them after then you have a greased filter
  21. Just get a new one, WD40 gets rid of moisture and drys the thing out. So spraying it on your filter might not be the best idea. If you must, take it off, scrub it, let it soak, scrub some more, dry it out, grease it, re-install. But buying a new one is easier!
  22. Show a picture of the other side! Use macro mode on the camera and get close ups of the valves etc so we can see as much, as clearly as possible. There has to be something wrong with the valve to explain why it is doing that.
  23. I cant tell you from those pictures alone but the chain marking the inside is normal. Just needs to be ever so slightly slack and that will be enough to hit the outer casing, I've found scratches on the inside of a bike like that before... But I can't quite tell from the way you have photographed the valve (or maybe I cant understand what I'm seeing) but what does the manual say on the matter of the valves?
  24. Pull off the top end... Sounds like a valve or a piston ring has gone walkies
  25. Your swingarm tells you all you need to know or the owners manual! How to measure slack is included, whether the bike is loaded or unloaded when you do it. How much etc. Simply put a ruler on the floor vertically and measure the slack. If it's within tollerance it doesn't need altering
