  1. Ah, I thought that FI systems accounted for the stat being closed when they start up It was based on what a bike of mine did, it had weak rpm's at cold start but took ages to warm up and hold a stable rpm.
  2. There is a tight spot, its why in most haynes manuals they tell you to tighten the chain but only when you have found the point where its the most tense.
  3. Fuel injected has an automated choke I thought... I was under the impression it warmed the engine with an automated choke, which is why some bikes rev higher when they turn on. Its the F.I implementing a choke like situation to keep the engine alive. The revs then settle after the engine is warmed sufficiently. Maybe the idle setting for the FI is wrong and its pitting out. Or the thermostat is jammed open the engine is cooling way too much when its switched on. Lots of things it could be. Most likely the FI.
  4. *sigh* I didnt cry, it just really made me feel really gutted. Read it again in an angry context fool, I stormed upstairs and back down a few times with a confused expression as I wondered why it had died. Did it starve, dehydrate... Basically anything that could make it my or the familes fault as I expected to let them die when I moved out. Then jog on as I thought this was a thread for people who are having a bad day. I rode 200 miles, through rain and generally in a bad mood to find one of the few pets I was ever allowed to have dead. Great cherry on top to already a shit day. Or so I thought until I come online to find this response. Call it over the top, I understood when you were angry when lorry drivers were being slagged off. And it was a Hamster... If you are going to hurl an insult at least have the class to get it right clever clogs
  5. f**k it... My parents never let me have pets... Until when I was 18 and they let me have a couple of Hamsters. I am not used to having pets around and found it strange the amount of compassion I showed them and had towards them. Today Calli, the last of the 2 hamster after the first died at Christmas passed away. I wasn't upset but then of course I had to look at her when I lifted her out and remembered when she was new to the home and it just slayed me. The reaction went from quite civilised to me storming around the house inside 20 seconds. I find it difficult to understand why I reacted in such a way as socially Im a bit poor on the understanding part but still I didnt think a tiny hamster would do that to me... Im a strange fella so f**k it and f**k the f**k it and f**k the f**k it twice more... For good measure...

    Water pump broken?

Could there be a blockage in the pipe?

    2 stroke advice

They are fairly solid for 2-stroke bikes. So as long as it has a rebuild every 10,000 miles at most it will be fine. It should have had one or 2 by now. Make sure this is the case or I would be rebuilding it myself in a heart beat. Piece of piss job to do as nothing has to be syncronised with a 2-stroke like you had to with a 4-stroke as the whole process relies on the movement of the piston rather than times valves etc. I have seen and performed rebuilds countless times either with a mate or on my own bike alone. Its easy as hell with a Haynes manual or even just a Youtube video as I learned from.
  8. Mine started to do this, it would work just fine if you used it every day or every couple of days. But 4 or 5 days down the line it wouldn't start. If you replace it, get the best one possible as the results are fantastic. It will have been running sluggish for a while now without you noticing I reckon. It had been with me.

    bleeding brakes

Undo the bleed nipple release nut and attach a tube and pump the brake to squeeze the fluid out, and as it goes down in the reserve just top it up again and repeat until the air is gone, my understanding of it that a few times of doing this will work a treat. Leave the top off the reserve as you do it so you can fill up and any air stuck in the pipes has more freedom to bubble up. Thats how mine worked anyway, I'm telling you this whilst deleriously tired so excuse any mishaps with info given. As you pump the brake with the top off the reserve and the nipple open it will allow the lodged air to be forced downwards. This action means eventually it will be the airs turn to be forced out of the nipple. Thats the working behind it anyway.
  10. EXACT same thing happened to Jin's GPX400. Same bike just different top end and hers is solid black in colour. The front brakes do bind quite badly after a while and this is a recognised flaw with them as it happens to them through age. So when you replace them it shouldnt be a hassle again while you have it. We got it done for free incidentally but I have performed the job on a bike before. Its quite labour intensive, but probably doable for you. So long as you wear some mechanics gloves while you are handling the fluid and keep it away from your eyes. I would drain the whole system and slip the calipers off. Then you have to take them apart and replace the seals and give them a good clean. If you have a Haynes go for it and use the web as an infinite resource. Youtube will probably have videos on how to perform the task. If you know someone who can do it for you though a wink and a smile wouldnt go a miss in trying to get them to do 3 or 4 hours of work for you
  11. Use Wemoto, they will have a few options for you to take For your bike: http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Honda/CBR_600_FY/00/ And the various batteries... http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Honda/CBR_6 ... gh_Torque/ http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Honda/CBR_6 ... ery_Nitro/ http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Honda/CBR_6 ... y_Pattern/ http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Honda/CBR_6 ... ery_Yuasa/ I reccomend either of the top 2, they last far longer than any of the other batteries I have posted here!
  12. When done with standard fuel it has a good effect, the test was done with the high octane stuff and they chucked it in or at least the one I read about did. The bike I used it with gained power as it had done over 5000 miles on student budget fuel (cheapest you can get) and I put in double the required dosage and it cleared out my engine and it gave me power back
  13. Its good but not as good as STP. STP really clears your bikes system, and it doesn't have any ill effects. Also boosts power more noticeably than redex. http://www.stp.eu/uk/images/product_completefuelsystemcleaner.jpg And the link to Halfords... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165750 Enjoy
  14. Dont pass your test to go and jump to the biggest bike possible Though well done for passing! And its spelt "Theory"! Its any wonder the spelling and grammar SS haven't bundled you away in their van by now
  15. I remember exeter was a good 5 hours slog away which the CBR with its 12BHP and 10NM of torque just couldnt deal with well... I feel the need for about 3 or 4 more horse power and certainly more torque as it loses almost 20mph on the really steep hills. Bike magazine confirmed this was because the CBR just doesn't have a usable torque band at all. It pulls early on and then loses it all. Whereas the YZF-R holds its max power and torque within 1000rpm of each other which is a good compromise and means I could have held the higher speeds with more general ease. Plus it has a big increase in power and torque on the CBR with the same weight and is even so bold to have a wider rear tyre that holds it with more stability. Took just over 4 hours to get back at full pace. I gave it absolutely everything the bike had to offer. The heat in a 125 just isnt enough to wear out the over designed little things so it didnt have problems with doing it. After the trip though I was broken physically and mentally as everything just crept in on me. My own doing of course.
  16. Great thread! The only additions I can think of is keeping track of service history and previous MOT's. Checking the servicing is key to make sure the bike has had the right work done on it at the right time or within reason. Do they all tell the tale of a bike being generally used? Are there any odd features in the history? Do the MOT certificates show the bike doing the right sort of mileage for the wear and tear it should have gone through? Does the mileage add up? Are all new parts accounted for with reciepts? With 2-strokes the condition of how well it will run the course is when the engine was last rebuilt and there are no problems with the electrics. The more recent the rebuild the better.
  17. Petrol in the air box is quite common for a lot of bikes... My vara had it and it was just because of the carbs and fumes working their way up and settling. It not working in anything but neutral and conking out when warm must be electrical. So consult your Hyosung dealer and a Haynes manual. I would say the ECU is buggered which they did very easily on the Hyosungs of old. 2007 ones did it but this was sorted in 2008. What year Hyosung do you have?
  18. 30/05/2010 - Added - Honda Shadow 125 Added - Section 10 - Bike awards 30/11/2010 - Added - KTM Duke 125 Will use this post to edit what I add and when
  19. I'll look around, also because your bike is just Derbi's idea of a Honda CBR125, the engine and the key parts like the brakes were more or less the same... Which will make it a pig to change the chain as having to take the entire rear swingarm off is extreme overkill. But if you have a new chain with the master link I can just cut the old one off I spose Use my CBR125 manual, I have used it in reference to 4 other 125s. Theres very little different between 125s and the way they are put together providing they are put together by a leading company or with the designs of them anyway!
  20. Did you go over the A433 through Cirencester? When I went from London to Bristol I took a detour heading north and then came back round your way and followed on that route. Was a fairly nice bimble come to think of it
  21. I doubt many people have done that many miles in one stint in one day on a 125 In long way round they were lucky to cover 600 miles in a day when using the fast roads! I have bigger trips planned to do in a day, and hopefully on a bike that can take it better. Need a Yamaha YZF-R125... As plastic and racer chav boy as it is it would have munched up the miles with a lot more effect than the CBR could. It does have 25% more power and 30% more torque with the same weight after all
  22. My train of work demanded that I do a couple of sites, one in Exeter and one in Kewstoke over 2 days. Convinced I could do it in one I even took on the challenge of doing it completely by back roads and more importantly... Using a 125 The 125 in question was a CBR125, with a standard exhaust it lacks the grunt of the one with a Micron exhaust. I briskly set off and after an hour and only 40 miles... With nearly 8 times that to cover again I wasn't exactly looking forward to the trip. I boom out down the A30 chugging along with no music and a heavy rucksack. Overtaking is more of a chore with the CBR being bog standard. It lacks the top end snippyness it used to have. Eventually almost 5 hours in and some interesting back roads mixed with some painful dual carriageways I reach exeter. I do what I have to do quickly, turn my tail and head on up to Kewstoke. The roads are much more agreeable. I dont have to go above 50mph for a start which makes a change. I can just bimble around having some fun. Pulling into Kewstoke my arse feels like its been passed around a prison shower room... I am not walking properly anymore and the staff notice this and have a laugh. Job done... Now just another 150 miles to cover to get home... Oh how marvelously it slips off the tongue.. I ride back, stopping a lot to rest my arse. The bike needs a gel seat and about 3 more horse power and it would be perfect... I wish I had a YZF-R125... When I pass heathrow I start to absolutely gun it. I dont care anymore, I just want to be home, I want to climb into bed, I want to forget the stresses of the day and I just want to be comfortable again. Pulling in, Im broken... I loved every second but the CBR just isnt a cross country bike. It took: £20 of petrol 370 miles 12 Hours 5 pit stops a litre of redbull All the will power in the world http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... 410767&z=8
  23. http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/7043/derbigpr125.jpg Spafe on his new Derbi GPR125, bought it to use in place of his Kawasaki ER6F. Loves every second on it This was taken just before a bimble through town and down some very agreeable roads!
  24. I wouldnt have put 5w40 in tbh... 10w 40 sounds more suited for a Honda CG125 as 5 just sounds too thin
  25. And on the huge heavy beastie Im not surprised there arent any knee down antics Good pictures there, I hope you had a great day
