  1. Good stuff! My GT gave me enough problems for a lifetime, but I'm sure I'll be back in another Alfa one day lol... Sure it did, but you don't buy any Italian motors with your head, just your heart Looking forward to Sunday when I get to drive it again
  2. Well after two years being carless I now have half shares in an '04 Alfa Romeo 147 JTD Lusso, just the 8V 120bhp one as not made of money. Will it change my riding habits ?...........................................NOT A FECKING CHANCE !
  3. As it is not a legal requirement it won't be regulated within the traffic laws. So I would imagine that not using hand signals would still be a no no, but hey since when has that made any difference to cyclists.

Now that I would deffo agree with Me too. A small point though, they may have to stop for fuel but they don't always hang around for the paying bit.

See told you More carbon emissions more damage to infrastructure through useage. Might even encourage people to use local traders who won't have such high overheads, as they won't need to cover large distances. Don't disagree with the school run users, my kids all walked to school or used buses. Sadly the closure of many local schools doesn't help this.

As it is all electronic now it is not an issue to xref, you only need to check VRN and it will come up if taxed, MoT'd and insured.

Or put it on the fuel then those that use the infrastructure most pay the most, also those who use less fuel therefore have a smaller carbon footprint so pay less tax. Also you won't be taxed on something you are not using ie cage or other bike until they are in use. I know that will go down like a lead balloon but as a relatively high mileage user I would probably land up paying more, so am happy as is or is currently planned to be.
  8. Can't help with campsites as I stayed at Lake Garda, but I can recommend visiting the Moto Guzzi factory for a trip around their museum. It is in Como

I too pay annually for the bike so it is not an issue. And yes there will be a surcharge for paying monthly as there is for paying 6 monthly though less than in the past. Quote from DVLA website " DVLA will offer motorists the ability to spread their vehicle tax payments should they wish to do so. For vehicle tax starting from 1 November 2014, motorists will be able to pay vehicle tax by direct debit annually, biannually or monthly. There will be no additional handling fees for annual payments but to limit the impact on the public finances there will be a small surcharge of 5% of vehicle tax for biannual and monthly payments. This is half of the 10% surcharge that is currently applied to 6 monthly tax discs and which has been in existence for a number of decades."

Having just retaxed the VN today, and took the time to read the info on the DVLA website I notice something that has not been mentioned by anyone. Your RFL will be able to be paid monthly by DD. So if you are planning on selling you can go down that route for it, worst case you will only lose one month of tax as you would now should you choose to get a refund. Not as black as it's being painted.
  11. Don't use anything abrasive on chrome. I use Brasso wadding, harder work but better for the finish.
  12. Other for me. Who cares about the weather, I have 6 rallys/camping weekends booked (so far), and will be riding regardless. I would prefer a bit of sun, need to put textiles away and get leathers on.
  13. No shock there, when you hear of people blindly following satnav's onto railways and into canals. Observation has become a thing of the past.
  14. I would just like to point out that as much as this is a worthwile cause it IS NOT anything to do with The Royal British Legion Riders Branch other than some of our Branch Members may be taking part.

    Be Carefull

Glad I missed that, was in work by then. Quite nice this morning coming home.
  16. Was it really a dropped valve?? If a valve drops into the combustion chamber, the results are pretty fatal. I have the remains of a CG125 that dropped a valve. The piston has a huge hole in it, the head is mangled up and it will certainly never run again... I Dont think he could have had a dropped valve and still driven the van. My old Guzzi dropped a valve, the result sounds very much like your CG, even the chrome barrel was f***ed. And yes it was still running on the one but it didn't sound too good
  17. Well the camping looks a bit rough and access roads are iffy at the moment http://www.itv.com/news/west/update/201 ... by-floods/ Gotta feel sorry for Sam
  18. I couldn't afford to get a replacement every 24-30 months. I think my Divvi has IRO 140K, it does burn a bit of oil but a ltr bottle in the pannier keeps it in check.

    RBLR 1000

For the RBLR Saddlesore 1000 you can use any route you like but you have to visit the compulsory points and get proof (receipt for fuel or goods), the idea of having pre-planned routes is to make it easier. You only need to average 42mph and it is not a race. Safety is paramount and if you finish in less than 17hrs you will be disqualified as you must have been exceeding the speed limit.
