  1. Not true, in many States it is compulsory. Others have repealled the law due to there being no effect on injuries/fatalities.
  2. thats the thing though, as I have only had one hours worth of lessons and that was mostly just an introduction to the various manoevers and techniques etc (and that was nearly 2 weeks ago) I dont think my instructor really has much of an idea of my 'standard' at this moment in time. He did say that I had good general bike control etc but obviously there is a lot more to it than just controlling the bike Still ask him.
  3. Ask your instructor if he thinks you are up to the required standard. If he thinks so go for it, if you do pass and wish to have a bit more training you can still do more before you go for a bigger bike. Your shout.
  4. Not used it myself, but know someone who does and he swears by it. I intend to replace what luggage I have with Kriega as and when I can afford it.
  5. 'Fraid I'm overseas for Easter (well, Plymouth ), and won't be back till PM Sunday. I can recommend the Wye Valley road from Chepstow to Monmouth. 'Venney bus station at anytime over the weekend. There is also a Festival of Transport on the Monday in Coleford in The Forest of Dean, a dream day out for any petrolhead.
  6. Plenty of time, will think about it closer the date.
  7. For those in the South & South West. http://www.rblr.co.uk/content/docs/popp ... _flyer.pdf
  8. Vicki posted on Legion Riders guestbook, so I had a look. Still here, so it can't be that bad, Oh yes and I like weird people
  9. Let me know if you can make it, I will be going up to Squires on the Friday. Could ride up together.
  10. No Tim, it is an open event though you are expected to raise a minimium of £50 in sponsorship for The Poppy Appeal. tbh I would have thought this would be right up your street.
  11. There are currently only 66 registered with a 200 max and 157 min needed to complete it to set new world record. Just trying to drum up a bit of support
  12. Anyone up for a challange ? Any bike any cc just a butt of steel (well Iron) http://www.rblr.co.uk/content/RBLR1000.html
  13. Best I ever had was a Bell (firm fit, excellent vision and quiet but heavy as hell), secondhand off a mate who had had it secondhand. don't know how it would have stood up in an accident, but hey I didn't have one.
  14. All their gear is TUV approved. That alone is good enough for me, but I'm not the sort to buy a name.
  15. Have bought luggage and accessories (crash bars, exhaust ect) from the States all been without any traumas. The import duty can be a bit hit and miss as far as the amount goes, I think the couriers make it up as they go.
  16. Sadly it falls on the w/e between two other rallys, the wallet won't take it (not too sure about the kidneys either ). Maybe next time.
  17. Yamaha's is a series of flashes, bit like morse code Then look at workshop manual.
  18. Don't know if you bike has TPS but I have had the same and all I needed to do was adjust the sensor (the mounting bolt had come loose).
  19. Tim, Interesting tips there, Assisting females. Whereas I stop for any bikes I have not stopped for a female with a broken down cage for more than a few years, I make no apologies for that but it is a sign of the times that I have become more worried about any comeback than the well being of a female. No apologies but I am embarrassed. Will use your tips and once again be chilvarious.
  20. The only times I have not stopped I am usually in the outside lane and am unable to. During the recent snow I stopped for a moped rider who it, transpired was just too scared to carry on. As she was waiting for her husband to rescue her I gave words of encouragement before I continued to work.
  21. Me too at 0.55-1.00, side next to camera. With Legion flag.
  22. Yep, that'll be the Cardiff mob. I am also WRC.
  23. Having a nice run to Aberystwyth, sadly I won't be able to join you as I'm on a Legion course there. Still I get to combine the course with a ride.

    Help with exhausts

I have heard of them, do you intend to do the replacing yourselves ? I did hear some not so good reports about their workmanship, but this was a few years ago. Had Jardine Rumbler turnouts on my 650 Draggie cracking sound but the chrome started to show signs of rust fairly quickly, then again I do use my bikes 52 weeks a year and US brightwork doesn't stand up too well to British winters.
  25. No more than the kit pre-determines the bike. Yes you would look a bit of a knob on a sportsbike with tassels, as you would on a cruiser in power ranger one piece racing leathers. I ride with the same leathers on a cruiser as I did on a CBR. There is plenty of clothing out there which is fit for purpose which look fine on either.
