  1. Me? Probably not enough! Generaly after it has been sitting still for a while, or it starts to feel "odd" around corners.
  2. You eventually get a feel for what is "normal" for your bike. With the MSX I do check the tension every ride, as it can stay in spec for weeks, then all of a sudden get way to slack (crap adjusters on it) My BMW however it is much more gradual, so I'll give it a nudge with my toe once a week or so. I it actually needs cleaned just now, because of all the dust in the air here. However it doesn't need adjusted to I am loathed to clean it, will seem like half a job!
  3. Every bike is different, but generally you should be at least giving the chain a quick once over every ride - checking tension and condition. If it needs adjusted, then cleaning it at the same time makes sense to me. Depending on the weather conditions will depend on how often it needs cleaned. Dry and dusty conditions and/or wet conditions and it will need cleaned more often. The "top"/ middle of the chain is where it should be lubed. If it's dry there... then it's wearing the chain and sprockets more than it's meant too. And yes, clean like a push bike chain.
  4. I don't remember the summer of 69 or 76... mostly cause I wasn't born But yea, even up here in the wilds of Scotland I can't remember the last time we have had such a prolonged spell of hot and clear weather. I'm starting to really enjoy going home from work and just lazing around the back garden with a book, I'll miss it when normal weather returns
  5. I do all my own servicing, apart from the bikes first service. I oddly enjoy servicing my own bikes.
  6. I've never had a bike in for a service with them, but the service guys at Two Wheels in Edinburgh have always been really helpful with me.
  7. Until the robots can fix themselves Terminator..... Have you seen what happens when a 3d printer gets confused?
  8. I already fix robots, so I think I'm safer than some
  9. Usually indicators will flash quicker is there is less electrical resistance than before. If you have a relay, sometimes they can be ajustable. Otherwise, check your wireing. See if there are any breaks in them.
  10. The cheapest way to improve the performance of most 125cc's is simply for the rider to lose weight. The lighter the rider the more rapid the acceleration!
  11. Of course it is possible. You can ride from John o groats to lands end on a CBT if you wish. Stick to the smaller A roads and back roads and don't expect to do more than 100-150 miles in a day and it's fine.
  12. Nice! I love the yellow bikes
  13. I've got a pair of Bullit jeans, they fit just like normal jeans. They also appear to be water repellent. I've also got a pair of Oxford Leggings which are super comfy and are pretty much my new favourite bike related thing. however I don't think many men wear leggings.... Any jeans you do get, I would make sure you can put knee and hip armour in. Knox do some super thin and breathable armour that can be either lvl 1 or lvl 2 compliant if you need/want to add your own.
  14. I don't like going pillion without a top box behind me... I rarely lean against it, but it acts as a sort of comfort that you wont slide off the back of the seat...
  15. I do... One instructor told me not too, the other showed me how! Mostly because if I'm on a hill with a horrible camber I can't put my left foot down because the drop is too far. Instead I'll hold the bike with the front brake, and with only two fingers holding the brake I can still twist the throttle to pull away.
  16. The glass bit (lexan) is for when I use it playing Airsoft. It's not needed for when it's on my helmet Weight wise, I don't notice it, it makes funny noises in the wind when going at speed and I sometimes catch my hand on it because it is a bit bulky. Edit: I wouldn't trust suguru. It failed to even hold a cable in place in my car...
  17. You can do it by using many go pro bits... Or use a j mount, depending on what view you want. I didn't though as the ridge on the chin of my helmet is thinner than the mount.
  18. I've only had a top box on my 125 (I've not got a rack for the BMW yet) and I tend to not use it if it's very windy outside cause I hate the sail feeling. The main down side I've found is when the top box is fully loaded (especially with 2l bottles of juice...) It's stupidly easy to wheelie
  19. Box's and bags each have their own merits. I use both pretty regularly. Like has been said, the box is most useful if you will be leaving things with your bike. They are also normally much more water tight than bags, and you can normally fit a helmet in without too much issues (unless your helmet has a rear spoiler things like mine...). From a riding point of view, top boxes can catch the wind more, can make your tail light harder to see for trucks and can make your bike a bit rear heavy depending what you have in it. Bags, if secured correctly and on the rear passenger seat are pretty much "invisible"/unnoticeable when riding I have noticed. Which is why I prefer them over the top box. Bags also looks better in my opinion on my bikes. However for ease of throwing stuff in, top boxes win for commuting most days.

    Phobias

Just the thought of that makes me feel sick I once got sunburt on my stomach and that was bad enough!

    Phobias

Not a phobia either, but I cannot stand belly buttons. They simply freak me out... anything touches/goes in my belly button I physically retch and feel/be sick. I don't partially like them on anyone else either, even the thought of key hole surgery though a belly button makes me feel queasy.
  22. The key is base layers and vents. If your current jacket and trousers have vents then go get some good summer wicking base layers. Wear them (and nothing else) under your textiles/leathers and you will feel cooler than wearing a cotton shirt or such. I found adding a back protector to my jacket help with allowing a breeze flow up my back while riding, which is very pleasant
  23. It depends on the brand in my experience. And since everyone is different, you may get away with just shorting the total leg length and the knees stay where they should. Other folk need them shortened between the knee and hip. Depending on the stlye, sometimes this is easier to do because it no zips etc. Personally, I now just buy short length versions from the shop. Halvarssons/Lindstrands/Jofama do a large selection of sizes I have found.
  24. Glad you got it all sorted and are now enjoying being on two wheels! Good to see the school taking heed of your complaints too!
  25. A GPS shouldn't chime when you get texts, ring when you get a call, chirps when someone you love tweets, flashes across the screen for extended times when Facebook misses you... GPS are much calmer than most phones.
