  1. IIt depends. Dedicated ones should not move at all if you come off the bike. Depending on your jacket, a protector in the pocket of your jacket may move and therefore not provide the protection it should. I like my bike jacket to be quite snug. So I feel fine with a protector in the pocket, it doesn't move around. If I have bought a looser fitting jacket then a dedicated protector would have been a better choice.
  2. I bought this RST one as I couldn't find a stockist with a forcefield or knox one that would fit in my jacket. Rather glad however, as the RST one cost me a whole £12 from my local Honda dealer! https://www.rst-moto.com/rst-level-2-back-protector.html Much more comfortable on the bike for longer distances now, and it does let air through, unlike the standard foamy bit. So no more sweaty back!
  3. That this was in the Pixel release video as a selling point is bonkers too
  4. This is what I don't understand. People buy thin and light and lovely looking phones. Then encase them in plastic/rubber cases and put glorified sellotape over the screens. My phone is as naked as it came out of the box (and I ripped all the plastic film off it). I'm not particullary careful with my phone, but I tend to go at least a year or two without claiming insurance for a broken screen Most androids are going USB C now. Which even apple are starting to use!
  5. I did try it a while ago, but I don't really get on with any app that puts a windows desktop onto a phone screen. Too fiddly
  6. Oh, forgot to add, the Pixel does not run "stripped down" android. it runs android the way Google designed it. Samsung,HTC,Sony etc all tweak android to suit their own phone, and add bloaty apps on them that you cannot delete(by default..) If you don't wanna spend £600 on a phone but want to experience pure android. The Nexus 5X or 6p are both fantastic phones too.
  7. I have a Pixel. I absolutely love it, but it is a lot of money for a phone. I was comfortable spending £600 on a phone (I'm on a SIM only contract) as I have used Android for years, use google for pretty much everything and unlimited full res photos and 4k video sealed the deal. The phone is super quick at anything I ask it to do Charges from 5% to 80% in 15min - so I charge mine for around an hour before bed each night and that lasts me easily to the following night most days. Camera is pretty good for pictures. Video at 4k is excellent and slo mo at 120 or 240 fps is amusing/amazing to watch. Backs all my apps, messages, photos, video automagiclly. To the point I can take a picture with my phone and a few minutes later look at them on my Google Photos account in a browser on a pc, without the phone and pc ever "meeting". Screen is very visible in direct sun light. Google Fit is one of many health apps than will monitor your movements and connect to watched/other stuff. Any android wear watch will connect with it as far as I am aware. For anyone with battery longevity issues, buy an Anker, they solve all your charging needs - https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_11/254-2348205-6101543?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=anker+powercore&sprefix=anker+power%2Caps%2C155&crid=3B1LEH8DSYZDG
  8. I don't really care for Christmas. I like the time off work, and will quite happily put Christmas music on in the office and wear a silly hat/jumper/t-shirt. But hate the extra traffic on the road and all the fakery that goes on with people. Not everyone has a perfect family that all gets along, yet everyone assumes that everyone should get along "because it is Christmas". Winds me up too....
  9. I think I may call hot shoes, hot boots forever more. Hot boots are way cooler than shoes
  10. I think that one might be a bit of a handful!

    Watch your Back!

Exactly. So why are they doing it?

    Watch your Back!

I wasn't going to post about this topic, as I feel it is completely wrong. But meh... why not At my work I have access to monitor, view, track and generally snoop around on everyone's account and everyone's internet browsing. Just because I have access to do this however, does not mean I routinely collect massive amounts of data on my users and store it for later perusal. Also, just because I have access, does not mean I go ahead and snoop on people. Morally It is just wrong. With the changes in the law, many more people now have these abilities to snoop on, and must collect vast amounts of data on, a massive percentage of the public. I see a few issues with this aside from the moral issue. 1. Not every system admin is moral. 2. Not every network secure. The more people/companies have access and snooping data on people, the more likely it is 3. will happen. 3. This data could be used for all sorts of nasty schemes if fallen into the wrong hands. Regardless if terrorism worries are in the data or not. In my opinion. it is a shift from "innocent until proven guilty" to "everyone is guilty unless you let us monitor you 24/7". Not a good move in my eyes.
  13. Agreed. But there are many reasons for people not taking action on others. Some is down to self preservation. Another is in not wanting the law turned on them if they do take action against people committing a crime. Both are valid in my opinion. If there was more protection for people to restrain or stop others from doing a criminal act, then people might be more envolved with crime stopping. However the law is more protective of the criminals these days...
  14. Maybe he was trying to get out of paying for your pension, as well as his own.
  15. Yup, female ginger cats are rarer than male ginger cats. It's about genetics, females need two copies of the "ginger gene" to be ginger (otherwise they are tortoiseshell or calico) where as males only need one copy to be ginger. This is also why tortoiseshell/calico male's are even rarer than ginger females. (I love genetics...)
  16. That is extremely cheap for a grom ! I'd be wary of it. Many are stolen... I've not changed the clutch myself yet. Not put enough miles on it yet. When I do need to change it, I will most likely do it myself though. And probably put uprated parts in, simply because they are not much more expensive. If you like, send me the link to I and I can have a wee look. See if there is anything else obviously wrong with it. There has just been another fuel pump recall so it will probably need to get that done. (Warranty job)
  17. Most things on the MSX are pretty easy to do since it is small. The clutch is about the size of a fist, so not massive and powerful like bigger bikes. It also helps that you can change the clutch without removing the engine from the frame. Here is the service manual - https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9HD9e9_00lSZENBS3psZ050QVU You can buy uprated clutch springs and plates, which are more hard wearing. Many people seem to be doing this, especially if it's spent/spending a lot of time with its front wheel in the air
  18. They are not too difficult to keep to be honest. Not for everyone however. They are a bit like having a toddler around- keep them entertained, well fed and give them a bath every few days and you are fine! The issue is getting a "parrot-sitter" for going away on hoilday. A current issue I am having. Probably similar as having goats though!
  19. She can be a proper grumpy old lady some times, other times she just wants to cuddle all the time. - "> Generally she is pretty independent and curious in everything. Timid of new things at first, but eventually comes around. Trying to harness train her just now so I can take her outside to fly around, it's taking a long time to get her comfortable with it though.
  20. My trick for getting the U turn to work without putting my foot down was to basically look behind me. So, do a life saver. Into gear and set off, do another life saver but this time, keep looking back. Turn the bars and the bike will turn, you don't need much throttle, keep the clutch covered and pull it in slightly if you gain too much speed. Generally you will find that going a bit faster makes it easier than going to slow. The wheels spinning keeps the bike upright. Have a look at this video to see what I mean about going quicker helps keep the bike upright. ">
  21. Oo kitties! I'm trying to persuade my work a good moral booster would be to had some dogs and cats around the place. So when people are feeling annoyed at management we can go cuddle a pet and be all happy And goats! I have a bit of a thing for goats Really cute and funny animals. I thought we already had a thread on this, but anyways, I've shared my life for the past 12 years with a Sengal parrot called ZaZu. I'm not sure what age she is, as she was an adult when I got her. She could easily be in her 20's or 30's. Starting to act a bit like it now too, falling asleep while watching TV the other night...
  22. Donald trump will do anything to fulfil his own goals. No matter what it takes. If you can find somewhere to watch it this is an insightful documentary into corruption and idiocracy . http://www.youvebeentrumped.com/youvebeentrumped.com/ABOUT_THE_FILM.html Trump cares for nothing but himself. That is not someone who should be in charge of a country in my mind. Yes he is different. So was Hitler.
  23. I nearly threw up when this came on the radio on my drive into work this morning. Had a complete feeling of slimy, creepy git of a leech who stands at the ends of bars chatting up any women who ventures to the bar on her own.
  24. Coming from a car to a 125cc I initially felt very vulnerable, which I think made getting up to speed a bit terrifying. I'd say it took me about 20 or so hours over a couple of weeks to be comfortable using the 50mph road through the city on my 125cc. Now, so long as the wind is not too strong I feel fine going as fast as my little bike will take me! (About 70mph tops! ) Getting to 60-70mph on a 650 bike is much quicker time wise, and as the bike is heaver I found it more "reassuring" (can't think of another word...). They generally feel much more planted on the road than the lighter bikes. I'd second the suggestions of wearing ear plugs if you do not already. Good earplugs will block out the wind noise, but you will still be able to hear and feel the engine to know when to change up and down the gears. I absolutely hate riding without my plugs now.
  25. Fifa basically want players to be players on a field and no more. They want them to all be the same, and be good little boys and do what they are told, all be sheep and not to "baa" any different to each other. Footballers are actually people, with their own opinions on things. Just like news reporters and TV presenters. They should be allowed to wear a poppy if they wish, when they wish to.
